Gonna be on TV tomorrow! Need "homework" Help! |
|
I'm going to be on the local tv show tomorrow at 5 & I want to be prepared for as many types of attacks on Cindy Sheehan as I can. I know I'll be asked about why she wasn't happy w/her first meeting w/shrubbie, but for the life of me, I can't get a good link to the "Dolfur" (sp?) report that confirmed the findings of the UN inspectors. I really want to get a leg up on these folks, come across as sane & well-informed, so I want to be able to cite to specific reports.
Why am I going? (working on this one, trying to get beyond "because i'm fucking pissed off at this god damned administration & total fuckwad we have pretending to be president"--comes off as being bitter & since kids are watching, not so good)
Why do I feel it is important to go to Crawford? To show that Cindy Sheehan is not the only one fed up with all the lies that got us into the Iraq war. To honor those who have died in this war & show my support for the troops there that I want this war to end & for them to come home now. To stop draining our tax money away into the blackhole of Iraq so we can use it for what we need at home to be more secure (it's an issue here, so I will point out that our local sheriff & police are begging for funds to hire more officers & get more vehicles & armor, but gov't doesn't have it because it's all going to Iraq & into corporate coffers). Any other ideas? Thanks!!!

1) Cindy is a tool of liberal groups and people like Moveon and Michael Moore.
2) Cindy said she wants Bush impeached.
3) Cindy is anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian.
4) Cindy's son volunteered, so she is disrespecting his memory, because he chose to go to Iraq.
5) Cindy has always hated Bush. She's using her son's memory for political reasons.
Those are some I remember, and I'm sure that there are many more.

2. Cindy's first meeting with Shrubbie |
|
IIRC she felt he wasn't taking it seriously and it was before she knew about DSM etc.

3. that's what I"m talking about |

that she's mentioned that the meeting was while she was still in shock & much grief about losing her son, plus it was before DSM, 9/11 commission (?--I think), the Dorfur/Dolfur (sp?) report, etc came out. I want to be dead-on accurate with this stuff.

5. It is also important to remember Cindy's simple message: |
|
The pResident said Casey Sheehan - and 1860 others - died for a noble cause. After the Downing Street Minutes were revealed, I am now afraid Casey died for nothing, or even worse, for an illusion that will benefit very few people and hurt very many.
Cindy is asking the same question I am asking: can the pResident face the people and tell us honestly, face to face, what the noble cause is?
Can he explain what the noble cause is that justifies the death of more than 100,000 people in Iraq?
And if the answer is "Democracy is on the march", or such similar drivel, say "then I want to go to Crawford to support Cindy, and prove that most Americans don't believe Democracy can be achieved at gun point"
If they say: but won't it send a bad message if we withdraw from Iraq? Answer no, it will send a very good message, especially if we also withdraw the corporations that are plundering the country, taking jobs away from the Iraqi, and not really reconstructing. After the 1st Gulf War, the Iraqis rebuilt their Country for a 1000th of the money currently spent on Halliburton and Bechtel, and did a fine job.
So, when they retort: Are you saying that Iraq was better off under Saddam?? Don't hesitate and say: yes, definitely!

those are some good points. :) i'll work them in. we have a local security problem that's worrying our citizens here where i live & there's a funding shortfall so i want to work in the connection between the lack of funds for local law enforcement & the money being spent/wasted/stolen by private corporations in Iraq.

6. Attacks on her hometown, Vacaville |
|
These are particularly absurd attacks by John Gibson of Fox News on Monday, played by Jeaneane on that night's Majority Report program on Air America, something like this:
"Cindy is from Vacaville, and to the North is the University of California at Davis, to the West is UC Berkeley, and to the South is UC Santa Cruz, which as everybody knows is where those violent anti-Globalization protesters came from. Cindy is also in league with other organizations that will be marching in DC on September 24 such as United for Peace and Justice. She is a pinko, Socialist, Communist who has always affiliated herself with those far left-wing LIBERALS."
This is so absurd that I don't know if I should take up everybody's time and attention rebutting these statements. Vacaville isn't full of liberals, it's home to Travis Air Force Base and one of the biggest outlet malls in the world. And Vacaville is a lot closer to Stanford, where Condie got buddy-buddy with the neocons at the Hoover Institution, and they got her the Repub Convention speaking gigs and the job at Chevron after Stanford fired her as provost and Gerhard Casper quit as chancellor. I know what I'm talking about because I used to work there.
Anyway, if you want to know more, then PM me. I have a vigil to get to and will be back afterward. Good luck on prepping in the meanwhile.
