Saying Cindy and her PR people "have launched a sophisticated effort to get attention!"

CPH mentioned. Following her on her typical day...Lots of coverage. Wonderful. Tape this if you can! Watch the re-run later.

Cindy Sheehan denies Israel remarks

On Anderson Cooper 8/16:

COOPER: You were also quoted as saying, "My son joined the Army to protect America, not Israel. If you get America out of Iraq and Israel out of Palestine, and you'll stop the terrorism." How responsible do you believe Israel is for the amount of terrorism in the world?

SHEEHAN: I didn't say that.

COOPER: You didn't say that? OK.

SHEEHAN: I didn't say that my son died for Israel. I've never said that. I saw somebody wrote that, and it wasn't my words. Those aren't even words that I would say.

I do believe that the Palestinian issue is a hot issue that needs to be solved, and it needs to be more fair and equitable, but I never said my son died for Israel.

COOPER: OK, I'm glad I asked you that. Because, as you know, there's tons of stuff floating around on the Internet on sites of all political persuasions, so I'm glad we had the opportunity to clear that up.

SHEEHAN: And thank you, because those are not my words. It doesn't even sound like me saying that.

COOPER: Well, today, we've received numerous e-mails from viewers who saw that, and said, "Well, she lied. We read online that ABC News confirmed she sent them a letter saying exactly that."

So we contacted ABC News today about it. They said they had received a letter on behalf of Cindy back in March. They said took it seriously enough that they responded to it, but so far they cannot find the actual e-mail, they say. They say they're trying to find it, they're investigating.

Bottom line, ABC News right now does not seem to be confirming this is what Cindy Sheehan wrote to them, so stay tuned. We'll continue to follow.

Cindy also just posted on the Huffington Post about this issue and several otheres regardding the right wing attacks on her. Camp Casey, Day 11

CC: They are not funding me. People all over the country coming to me. Sending money for water, food...

AC: Are you a radical?

CC: I think I am pretty radical on this issue. I want the killing to stop...we are fueling insurgency...need to pull out...liberators leave, occupiers stay...I believe military presence fueling the insurgency...going on until he meets with me or Aug. 31...miracles are happening all the time at Camp Casey...movement bigger than me...it will keep going ...Peace.

76. Something else that gets me
is they accuse anybody of speaking out of being "associated" with Moore and that he is controlling what the person is saying, or they blame Clinton or some other nonsense like that. Oh and has any of them told how John Kerry was right about Tora Bora and BinLaden? And has any of them reminded who was in charge of 9/11 and that he ignored the memo? And has any of them shown that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or BinLaden and Al-Quida before we went in? I wonder how many people still believe that nonsense.

they are trying to subvert truth, justice and fairplay.

since the right controls the MSM media for now, we have to fight back hard. Wonder what would happen if those on the left started to buy stocks in the media companies and then fired the existing people there - maybe this could even be done with Fox News Corp. Wouldn't that be great?

At least that's the twisted truth they keep trying to cram down everyone's throats. Was the guy shooting off a gun described as a "conservative radical"? Or was the hateful loon who mowed down the crosses described as a RW "radical"? Why is it that only people who oppose war are considered "radical"?

I guess this explains how Jesus ended up nailed to a cross.

Then I switched to Hardball and there's what's-her-face making snide remarks and the Democratic Senator from Louisiana (Breaux sp?) just about saying Cindy's a nutjob, we're nutjobs and no one in Congress is going to pay any attention to what's going on. Pat Buchanan is the only sane one in the bunch and hell has officially frozen over.

9/11..but he's going to let her get away with this. Yes, he did.

58. Not much balance, Cindy against a whole lot of RWingers speaking
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 06:45 PM by wishlist
Not much balance but a barrage of attacks from RWingers. This show has turned into a forum focusing on showing viewpoints of those who do not approve of Cindy and who are making statements about how we are protecting Americans by killing the terrorists in Iraq and that she is causing deaths of soldiers in Iraq. Appalling coverage. Bush speaking, Bush's White House communications director speaking, several anti-Cindy protestors. Lots of RW propaganda ad nauseaum. They are all strongly linking 9/11 with the war in Iraq and promoting justifying the war because of 9/11.

61. I am ready to blow a fucking fuse here!
Fuck Anderson Cooper without lube for the hachet job he is doing on Cindy Sheehan and those that support her. His deliberate mischaracterization of just what is going on there is nauseating.

And those jackasses he had on as balance to Cindy -- give me a fucking break.

May I say this: CIndy and those who are down there right now, I am damn proud of you! You are handling yourselves with grace and compassion.

His whole speil about how there are only a handful of folks protesting, that the anti-war movement is small --

Hey Bruce, you asshat! I guess I was just imagining the 20-30 thousand people I have been marching with regularly here in San Francisco! And the hundreds of thousands more who have been marching in LA, New York, and across the damn country since before this damn invasion!

Obviously, they never covered it, so it never happened....

92. Yes siree, that was him! Made a special trip down to Crawford just to
appear with Anderson. I'm not going to tune in, but I'll guarantee it will be a large part of his spiel on the radio tomorrow.

He is not a nice person. Professional a-hat and agitator of the Right Wing Wack Jobs, dangerous to your mental health and well-being.

83. Okay now does everyone believe me?
CNN is propaganda central. It would make Goebels proud. Some accuse us with this view as hyperbolic but my vitrol for CNN is such that I could not be swayed to even watch this show.
CNN isn't worth my cat's spit. And I cannot imagine the day I will ever allow it on my screen again. FOX is at least an open secret in the propaganda department. But CNN-they are scum of the planet pretending to be news.

85. Quickie Transcript of Cindy's interview with Cooper
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 08:19 PM by Synnical
COOPER: Cindy, thanks for being with us. First of all, you had talked about moving this camp. Is that going to happen and when?

CINDY: It’s going to happen tomorrow. We’re going to move it up the road a little bit closer to George Bush’s ranch.

COOPER: There’s been a lot of criticism for you, there’s been a lot of support for you as I’m sure you know. On the internet, all around, on radios, on television. Ah, you’ve associated yourself with groups Moveon.org, uh, other, other protesters. Ben Cohen has funded some of the efforts here. Do you worry about tainting your message? By linking yourself with far left groups, or very liberal groups?

CINDY: Well, actually I think that became a little bit of a problem last week, towards the end of the week. But, I have re-focused on the message, and I’m trying to keep the media on point with the message. They’re not funding me, you know. I came here on my own dime and, um, people from all over the country – the donations are pouring in. And this is really a grassroots thing.

COOPER: And where is that going? That’s going to what, public relations groups to help you organize?

CINDY: The funding from the people in the country is going for water, food, um, the only thing I’m aware of that MoveOn is paying for is the PR firm.

COOPER: Do you, do you consider yourself a radical? I mean, some have been calling you a radical. And clearly some of the essays you’ve written. I mean, you’ve called President Bush a terrorist, the worst terrorist in the world. Called the war in Iraq blatant genocide

CINDY: Right, right.

COOPER: That’s pretty radical.

CINDY: I think I am pretty radical. But, only on this issue. You know, this is my issue. I just want the killing to stop. I don’t want any other mother to go through what I’m going through, Anderson. Whether she be Iraqi or American. And that’s what keeps me going is knowing that people are in harms way for no reason. I can’t stand that.

COOPER: And what happens to Iraq – I mean, you want US troops to pull out, what happens to Iraq?

CINDY: Um, there actually has been some studies that our presence there is fueling the insurgency. We need to pull back our military presence, we don’t need a military presence in the country. You know, if we were truly there to liberate them, you know, liberators leave when the job is done. Occupiers stay. And it looks like we’re occupying because there’s bases the size of Sacramento California there.

COOPER: Senator Joe Biden, who has been critical of President Bush for quite some time, he doesn’t say we should pull out, in fact, he says it would be a mistake to pull out. John Kerry says it would be a mistake as well. Um, basically their argument is basically handing Iraq over, whether we like it or not, Iraq is now the frontline on the war on terror. Whether is was supposed to be, whether it was initially, they say it is now. Do you believe it now the frontline on the war on terror?

CINDY: Uh, no I don’t. You know, I believe, like I said, our military presence there is fueling the insurgency, and there are studies. A study from Saudi Arabia and a study from Israel that said most of these people who have become suicide bombers, or have become, um, terrorists are actually just rising up because of the occupation and they never even thought of doing that before America invaded. So I believe a lot of the violence would stop.

COOPER: It’s day eleven, ah, I mean how long does this go on? How long can you stay here?

CINDY: It’s going on like I’ve always said until he meets with me or until August 31st.

COOPER: But, you know, it it, seems very unlikely at this point that he’s going to meet with you.

CINDY: Well, um, you know what, Anderson, miracle are happening everyday at Camp Casey.

COOPER: Has it gone beyond that for you? I mean, does it matter to you really whether you meet with him or not?

CINDY: Well, what I know is that if he meets with me today we go home tomorrow or if we leave August 31st a movement has started and it’s bigger than me. Bigger than all of us. And it’s just going to continue and that is going to be the peace movement until our troops are brought home.

COOPER: Cindy Sheehan, I appreciate you joining us tonight.

CINDY: Thank you.

COOPER: Thanks very much for being with us.

Edit to correct a few typos, like I wrote, it's a quickie transcript.

Also, she's right, when she goes home the movement is bigger than her and it will grow until Bush is out of office.

87. Yeah, but the Wingnuts will use this sound bite
"CINDY: I think I am pretty radical."

Can't you hear, or imagine hearing, Rush screaming, "See, even she admits it - she's on the fringe!!!"

As the magnet on my fridge reminds me daily, "Well behaved women rarely make history."

Keep on, Cindy! We've got your back. :loveya:

95. They say it like it is a dirty word.
That is one of the things we need to do is reframe our party. The republicans have framed us as "liberals" oh the shame. But it scares the conservatives and centrist big time.
