Flashback: 1988, my first year driving
Junior year of high school. I remember the first time I filled up my new first car...75 freakin cents a gallon. I could drive around for a week on 5 bucks. The good old days.

1. OMIGOD
That was the same year I started driving - we are the same age it looks like (88 was my Junior year, too). I remember when we could fill up for $10 and I had a Mustang for God's sake. Oh to remember the good ole days

2. I had a Bronco II
I loved it, but she later turned out to be a real dog. Still, making minumum wage, still in HS, $98 a month car payment, I had more money than I knew what to do with. Of course the downside was my state (Oklahoma) was creamed by the oil bust and a lot of people were out of work. I saw a freeper the other day saying we need to drill more in Oklahoma and Texas. I don't know about Texas, but this state is no longer producing oil on any substantial scale. Hasn't for several decades now.

3. Another Junior in '88
I had a '76 Ventura. Ahh..that thing could suck down gas. Nothing like delivering pizza in that car with an AM radio and no AC in the Arizona desert.

4. Wow ...two class of 89ers.
That must have been miserable but I guess the pizza stayed nice and toasty.

5. I paid $1 for my first car.
A 1972 Ford Gran Torino. 351 V8 Cleveland engine. A kind of bilious green color. My grandpa sold it to me on my 15th birthday for $1.

God I loved that car.

Good thing I still have it.

Later,
