I.M.Pumped!

I just returned from our local MoveOn.org vigil for Cindy and the response was phenomenal. People of all ages: children, teen-agers, young adults, middle age, and elderly couples, all holding candles, talking about how the Republicans are raping our wonderful country that was built on the blood and sweat of so many who came before us. And let me tell you, the response from the motorists driving by was incredible. Sometimes there were twenty to thirty cars honking their support for us. At times it moved me to tears. It can be confidently said that millions of Americans want this war to end. We have all been waiting for someone to lead the way, and finally Cindy did.

One guy next to me said that instead of being called blue and red states, they should be called blue and gray states, just like the civil war, because that is what this country is headed for if nothing changes. Lots of people believe that Cindy's vigil in Crawford is looking a lot like the spark that could bring liberals and moderates together to smack down the GOP in 2006. And everyone was remarking how inexcusable it is of Bush to be blithely bicycling around his ranch while Iraq explodes in violence and mothers who have lost children in the war are sitting outside his ranch asking the simple question, "Why, Mr. President, do you consider this war a noble cause?"

George Bush is in serious trouble, and he's too stupid to realize it. We have found his weak spot. George Bush will never, ever, ever-ever-ever-ever admit he made a mistake or give in to ANYONE. Cindy is his kryptonite.

This whole thing has caught the media by surprise. They just love a good controversy, especially in August, but they are very nervous about how to report this huge upwelling of support for Cindy that is growing almost exponentially! They are scared to death to give Cindy too much good press, because they will be labeled "the liberal media" (plus their corporate bosses will come down hard on them), but on the other hand they can't ignore it because it's all over the Internet and growing daily and it is NEWS that can't be ignored.

But the people who have been the most surprised are the politicians, both Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats, as a party, have been so scared to offend or be accused of attacking a "War President" that they have been less than useless. When we looked to our leaders for leadership, all we got was platitudes. Well WE are now the leaders. We, the people, are about to tell you what we want and if you can't speak for us, then just get out of the way. We have written to you for years now and gotten nothing but bland form letters in return. We frickin' told you there were no WMDs, we told you Bush and PNAC were drooling at the thought of invading Iraq even before the dust at the WTC settled. We've been right and you've been wrong, and now we're about to fire you if you don't shape up!

As for the Republicans, you are going to see them sweat blood in the coming months. You think they don't know a revolution when they see one? Oh sure, the DeLays, the Roves, the Norquists, and the Dobsons will strut and swagger around like they are royalty and the majority is still behind them but they, too, will come to realize that Americans don't want to get shoved back to the gilded age where children worked in the mines and employees worked for pennies a day and were fired if they got ill, because there was always someone else who was healthy and could do the job better for the same salary. We don't want to see children die because no one can afford a doctor. We don't want fascism, we don't want a plutocracy, we don't want a theocracy, we don't want the return of blatant discrimination, we don't want to hate our neighbors. We want a decent wage for a day's work, enough jobs for everyone, and a safety net for those who truly need help. We want respect regardless of our race, religion (or lack of it), regardless of gender. We want to love our neighbor and we want both political parties to, first and foremost, work for what's best for ALL Americans, not just a chosen few.

Yes, my fellow Americans, I Am Pumped! I firmly believe we are on the verge of taking back out country.
