Hundreds flock to 'Mom' peace vigils
Hundreds flock to 'Mom' peace vigils

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/237068_vigil18.html

Galvanized by the grief and grit of a soft-spoken woman on a quest for answers, more than 1,500 Seattleites Wednesday night fell silent, sang and lit candles in her honor.

At almost 20 neighborhood vigils, dads and moms, kids and grandparents turned out to honor Cindy Sheehan, the California mother on a campaign to meet one-on-one with President Bush at his Texas ranch. Her soldier son, Casey, 24, was killed in Iraq in April 2004. She said she wants to know why.

So did many of the estimated 400 Seattleites who showed up at a Green Lake vigil Wednesday night, irritating some skaters and joggers trying to dodge them. "What's America coming to?" asked one jogger as he ran past

6. Interesting quote from the PI article
"In Crawford, Sheehan's lone one-woman protest has swelled to incorporate a crowd of more than 60 --"

Um, do we have counting problems?

Sheesh, I thought the PI was the one with the liberal slant.

7. There coverage
of Cindy (her hometown paper as well) has been absolutely atrocious. If I didn't know better (and I don't) I would think that someone in the newsroom has something personal against her.

8. I think its a good thing to keep the numbers down
One of the strongest features of her protest is that she went down there with a chair and a tent alone.

The vigils are another thing completely.

9. Whether it is a good idea to keep the numbers down or not
it's not true. There are hundreds of folks out there now, not sixty. That's just piss poor reporting or reporting with an agenda, take your pick.

10. I think
it is good to have local vigils- which will keep the numbers down to some degree, but NOT to limit attendance -unless it's mandatory.
http://jarnocan.blogspot.com I posted some pics from the Westfield,NJ.
