1. When is he resigning?
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 08:08 AM by terrya
He has to be stepping down soon, right? A governor can't serve if he's been indicted for a crime, correct?

Forgive my naivete, but that's what it seems like to me.

5. Taft will announce today...
he will not resign. This is a good thing in three respects. He was a lame duck to begin with, now he's crippled, keeps him and the repuke party in the spotlight for the influence peddling that went on in these outings, three high ranking members were forced to resign for the exact same thing.

2. Not a word about it here in the Wv TV coverage of the local news
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 08:14 AM by Hubert Flottz
They talked about other folks in Ohio being charged with several crimes, but not a word about you governor being a crook. I was watching for the story but Nada!

All they talked about was Jim Traficant when he was in trouble though.

8. Not might -WILL lead to bigger scandals. I hope he passes to blame on to
Noe because they are who we need to spill the beans. They are connected to the election fraud in Lucas County (Tom was a former BOE member, who helped bring Diebold into the county and his wife Bernadette was Chairperson of the Lucas County BOE during the '04 election which saw such widespread problems that blackwell was forced to write an investigative report.) If they talk, I only hope that it brings down blackwell and leads all the way to you know where!

10. A George Bush clone?
"COLUMBUS, Ohio - Gov. Bob Taft's political opponents have charged him with stonewalling, seeking scapegoats, and failing to take responsibility for what has transpired under his watch."

Same modus operandi from the Top to the Bottom of the GOP! Where's the RICO Act when you really need it?

Your chief exec. is not the only bad apple. Step right into the Way-Back machine and strap yourself in for a ride back to 1990 when our governor went to the federal slammer and we'll work our way back to the present...

Arch Alfred Moore, Jr.

snip>

Gov. Arch Moore, Capito's father, and his 1990 guilty pleas to a five-count federal indictment charging him with mail fraud, filing false tax returns, extortion and obstruction of justice.

Moore served 33 months in federal prison. The Web site also has links to legal documents about Moore's recent unsuccessful efforts in 2003 to have his law license restored.

http://modernamerica.blogspot.com/2005/07/gazette-weighs-in-on-captio2006com.html

Shelly Moore Capito is the person the republicans are backing in an attempt to unseat senator Robert C. Byrd.

Abuse of Power? Capito to seek pardon for her disgraced father?
Is Congresswoman Capito trying to get a pardon for her father, a convicted felon?
Capito needs to tell the public whether she has spoken to anyone in the Bush administration about a pardon for her father.
Capito needs to tell the public whether she has used any of her congressional staffers to work on any issue related to pardoning her father.

Capito needs to pledge that she will not seek a pardon for her father nor use her office and staffers to seek that pardon.
As recently as this July 4th, Capito and her father met with George Bush in West Virginia. The fact that the President met with the convicted felon is a strong indication that this pardon is on the table.

Background:

Arch Moore, the disgraced former governer of West Virginia, pleaded guilty in 1990 to a five-count federal indictment charging him with mail fraud, filing false tax returns, extortion and obstruction of justice. He then served thirty-three months in federal prison.

More...(no pun intended)

6. Taft is a well hated govenor
Whats interesting is that both Senators, and the govenor are as hated by Republicans as much as Democrats.

How they manage to stay in office for so long is beyond me.
