Another freep meme..."If he meets with her, he'll have to meet with
every parent who asks to see him.

I respond,"Good, that's exactly what he should be doing."

2. My response: He ought to start earing his keep. He killed em, he can
explain it to any parent who asks. Golf, biking, clearing brush and not on his job description.

3. When a Gold Star Mother asks for an HOUR out of a five-week vacation,
he should spare the time!!

If and when this becomes some big burden on him, then he could do something differently. But this notion that meeting with Cindy Sheehan sets some sort of dangerous precedent is ridiculous!! :eyes:

16. Exactly. And the hypocrisy of those defending him absolutely blows my
mind.

Remember the weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth when the (bullshit) email first started floating around about Hillary blowing off the Gold Star Moms?

Yet, somehow....

4. They spout such nonsense.
The little crackhead meets with vetted audiences all the time. He has never spoken about Social Security with anyone who isn't already a syncophant. Does that mean he'll have to meet with EVERYONE about Social Security? Apparently not.

That meme is ridiculous on its face.

6. I've heard this ridiculous statement from two different peopel now
Neither is especially a freep, more like politically apathetic.

The dumbing down continues. MKJ

9. I know what you mean
They feel comforted by being able to make one sentence declarations defending their positions. "He already met with her." We ought to turn their nonsense back on them and say, "Yeah, BUT 9/11 CHANGED EVERYTHING! (Whatever that's supposed to mean!) So much has happened since then. He needs to meet with her again. HE works for US."

Or just leave it at, "BUT 9/11 CHANGED EVERYTHING!" Let them chew on that one for a bit. ;)

5. I'll bet he's never turned down a request
to meet with any big donor with checkbook in hand. If he has time for them, I'm sure he can take a few minutes out from his bike ride or naptime to meet with Gold Star parents.

like they don't think that every woman who passes through New York City is being hit on by Bill Clinton . . .

11. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
We couldn't let Bush actually talk to people who DISAGREE with him! Heaven forbid he should represent ALL Americans as the President of the United States. :eyes:

I mean really, what could Bush possibly owe the parents of our fallen soldiers?? It's not like he was the one who...oops, never mind.

12. Compromise
What if Bush gave a speech to the nation answering her questions. I think that is what has drawn people to Cindy. We all want to know what is the noble cause? When will we know we won? What will we have won? No more trite phrases but facts we can understand and process. His problem is communication with all of us. War has been described as ultimately a battle of wills, what country will outlast the other. Technology isn't always the defining element, Remember Vietnam. Bush's failed leadership has caused this erosion of support. He hasn't oulined what we are doing and why we should sacrifice for it. His 'stay the course' isn't working anymore.

13. By that logic the President should never meet with any citizens anywhere.
This is infantile reasoning.

The president can very obviously meet with Cindy Sheehan without obligating himself to meet with anyone else.

15. This whole thing is a moot point after last night
My post last night made this whole matter a moot point.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4383970&mesg_id=4384313

I figure that since, according to freepers, it appears that every citizen gets one, and ONLY ONE visit with the prez, and since I haven't used my one visit yet, I gave my one visit to Cindy. End of problem! hehe
