Has anyone else seen anger when you suggest people enlist? |
|
Or that their kids enlist/go work in Iraq? I mean sputtering fury - rage.
My unemployed Freeper brother was so angry and upset he was literally choaking and spitting when I asked if he had looked into firms in his area which were contracting in Iraq, since they're paying really well and he supports the war 100%.
My parents' neighbor, a otherwise nice hardcore Republican, looked like I had kicked her in the stomach when I asked if her one son had considered going over to Iraq with any of the well-paying contractor firms (I asked with 100% sincerity - no anger, no sarcasm, zero malice)
It's almost like you're asking them if they've thought about incest, or if they'd consider joining you in Satan-worship or kitten-slaughtering.
And yet they'd vote in a heartbeat to sent other people's kids over there...

1. I can't answer your question but... |
|
I like the idea of a Republican looking "kicked in the stomach."

2. Basically being called a hypocritical coward? Hmmm. |
|
I couldn't understand why.
George Bush couldn't even get his own daughters to enlist in this just and noble cause.

Their Shield of Denial has to be rock hard. They, bush voters, are ultimately responsible for the shape this country is in. To be called on anything must scare the shit out of them. Star Trek analagies show my nerdiness but I imagine Capt Kirk yelling "Shields have taken damage, Scotty give me all you got."

7. Yes, I've seen the anger |
|
Do they believe that perhaps we are implying we want them dead and that is why they get angry? Just a thought.
I like your idea of finding employment with security contractors. One person who I suggested volunteering in the military told me he was too old for that (early 40's). Never thought about Haliburton, et al. Will definitely keep that in mind for future encounters.

they've got to "get on with their lives." For the freeps, war is a spectator sport.

And I've heard plenty of excuses, too. The worst had to be this idiot who supported the war for the "cheap gas" :eyes: He couldn't go assist the troops in this war he supports because he's in a band.
:banghead:
How can these people sleep at night? How can those who consider themselves religious keep their heads from exploding?
Interesting times, indeed...

"Hahaha Nice one."
I wasn't joking, you support the war.
"Do you think I'm crazy?"
So you're okay with others fighting a war you support while you sit here on your ass?
"Why wouldn't I be?"

All those beliefs are just SWELL....
until someone asks you to stand up for them.
"Wha...??? (sputter !) Actually get out there and FIGHT for my beliefs (aka what the media/etc tells me I should believe) ???"
