"Support Our President, Support Our Troops"
Oh, how they LOVE to conflate those two!! (How on earth is supporting this Chimperor supporting the troops?!?)

Jorgi Sanders, left, argues with Luke Lundemo, both of Jackson, Miss., prior to the start of a silent 'vigil for Cindy Sheehan,' at the War Memorial in Jackson, Wednesday evening, Aug. 17, 2005. Sanders proclaimed her unqualified support for President Bush and his military actions overseas as well as her support for the military overseas. Sanders claimed she had a son serving in the military, but refused to identify him. Lundemo was one of 50 people who gathered in support of Sheehan. (AP Photo/Rogelio Solis)

By the way, the Yahoo slideshow on this page is phenomenal:

34. Sorry woman in picture,
a stupid placard and a magnet ribbon does nothing to support the troops. Go shove your head up your ass and inhale deeply.

2. OK, but I want to know how we get this woman voting Democratic
The DLC says we need to "connect" with these people, so let's figure out how to do it.

The floor is open people.

10. We don't need to connect with the FAR right. We need the middle.
And she's not it.

Take a lesson from Karl Rove: you don't need every voter, you just need enough.

23. Even if there was electoral fraud, that it was as close as it was
considering the opposition, the results of the last 2 elections was humiliating.

But no one needs to get - or is going to get - 75% of the vote or more.

Instead of worrying about the FAR right we should remain focused on the middle ground.

They voted Democratic 50 years ago.

38. I don't agree. We can't reach them...
... we must marginalize them.

My biggest frustration with people generally, and we Democrats specifically, is inability to learn from experience. Republicans have eaten our lunch in the last several elections not by winning hearts and minds to their ways of thinking, but scaring people away from us by marginalizing our ways of thinking.

Define and marginalize the enemy. The freeper who drove over the crosses is an excellent example. We should identify him as the poster child of the new Republican party.

Talking about the issues is fine, but the primary issue is them.

Politics punishes the timid.

30. here are some quotes that will make you go...
:grr: :grr: :grr:

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is." -- Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

"You can support the troops but not the president." -- Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years." -- Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?" -- Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99

" President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home." -- Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area." -- Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today" -- Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"I'm going to be judicious as to how to use the military. It needs to be in our vital interest, the mission needs to be clear, and the extra (exit) strategy obvious." (from one of the 2000 debates: http://www.debates.org/pages/trans2000b.html)

19. At this point, those two things are mutually exclusive...
...you can do one or the other, but not both.

Of those two things, I choose to support the troops.

Incidentally, the caption says 50 people showed up to support the troops and Cindy Sheehan, yet the photo concentrates on the one loon who is there to support Bush. 50 to 1, and the 1 gets all the attention.

24. I love the look on Luke's face..lol
He looks so interested.
As for Ms Sanders, a quick check of her on the net reveals that she does have a son. Actually she has 2 sons (twins) and as of March 2003 neither were serving in any military. I wonder if she is just fibbing to make herself seem important? Not that a repuke would do anything like that. :eyes:
Oh, and the little search I did also shows that she is extremely devout to her Lord and saviour...imagine that.

29. WHY THE PRESIDENT FIRST, ASSHOLE???
Especially if what you claim is true, you have a son in the military? You think that cockknocker you elected deserves support over men and women put in harms way for two years now over a LIE?

Is Lancelot Shithead spraying the remains of his fellow soldiers off of sidewalks and tanks?

Is Lancelot Shithead being exposed to hostile fire almost every day?

Is Lancelot Shithead avoiding rock attacks, insurgents and roadside bombs?

Is Lancelot Shithead part of a single unit that lost 20 of it's own men in a period of 50 hours?

Is Lancelot Shithead going to live with horrid memories of death, butchered kids and wholesale ruin?

pResident Link deserves, along with his entire PNACabal, to be thrown in a cell and starved. Chicken-war-hawks deserve no support.

Mods, please delete if this info goes too far. :hi:

Edit: Not sayin' it's proof neither's in the military, contrary to her claim; just sayin'.
