San Pedro, CA: The Vigil for Cindy
Nini and I attended the candlelight vigil held last night in the nearby town of San Pedro. This small community is very active with progressive events, and we wanted to lend our moral support to this cause.

Many larger events were held in Long Beach and L.A. of course, but for 2 days notice, with most people signing up through moveon.org, I would say the 200+ who turned out was very encouraging for a community of its size.

People of all shapes, colors, ages, and sizes arrived, and held candles as the bell tolled for each of the sons and daughters who have fallen for reasons it may take generations for us to fully reach terms.

Nini took some pictures, and I will post if they turned out okay in the heavily shaded park, at dusk.

For all the mothers like Cindy Sheehan, whose voices have yet to be heard, we are listening, and we are with you. :grouphug:

2. Even the bus drivers honked in approval
:D Quite a good response from the drive-bys. If anyone insulted us, it fell on deaf ears.

5. well, actually "eastview"
but close enough - we had a San Pedro mailing address and went to elementary/middle school there.

Close enough to smell it when the tuna fleet came in.
