Pa. State Sen. Jim Ferlo joins Cindy

State Senator Joins Sheehan's Cause

State Sen. Jim Ferlo booked a flight and took off for Crawford, Texas, this weekend. He's met with Sheehan. But she says she's not leaving the road outside the president's ranch until she gets to talk with him.

Ferlo joined the demonstration this weekend.

"I think everybody has a duty and a responsibility to start speaking up. Especially public officials. We've seen not only the devastation of human life, innocent human life in Iraq, civilians, 100,000 deaths of mothers and children dead. U.S. troops, many of whom have come from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, have tragically fallen this last couple of weeks," said Ferlo.

He agrees there may be a circus-like quality growing at the vigil.

But he says the more the merrier -- it's getting an important message across and making an impact.

"When I arrived yesterday, I was one of 20 other individuals who just showed up spontaneously from other parts of the nation. There's kind of a makeshift geographical map of the United States. There's probably 60 or 70 cities marked on the map, or some notations. I marked Pittsburgh on the map as an example," explained Ferlo.

1. Ferlo was active in the community when I lived in Highland Park.
I'm glad he's still in the good fight.

2. Good! Someone from my hometown made it!
"I think everybody has a duty and a responsibility to start speaking up. Especially public officials."

Yeah, I agree, and what better place to do that than a RALLY AGAINST THE WAR!!! So far Maxine and Jim are the only pols I know that have gone down there... Where are the rest?

I've heard people say, "If the politicians show up she'll be associated with their causes, and people will say the pols are using it as a photo op."

You know what? BULL. Cindy is being smeared NO MATTER WHAT with whatever they can dream up. If Kerry wants my vote in 2008, he better get his ass down to Texas NOW!

I'm going to write a letter to Jim and Maxine to say 'thanks for showing up'...

3. Was Ferlo trying to talk her into leaving?

Confused...

4. "Especially public officials"
Somebody seems to be getting it. I am tired of all of the "public officials" sitting on their ass while the folks who pay their salaries do the dirty work. All the Dems should be standing by Cindy, in the heat, and showing everybody just how freeking "liberal" they are. Instead they worry about tarnishing their image by being associated with the likes of MoveOn and Michael Moore.
