Cheney: "Iraq is a critical front in the war on terror"

Cheney mourns Iraq war deaths, urges perseverance

CRAWFORD, Texas, Aug 18 (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney on Thursday offered sympathy to the families of fallen soldiers who face "irreplaceable" losses but insisted the Iraq war was worth fighting despite growing American unease.

....

The vice president did not mention Sheehan, whose 24-year-old son Casey was killed in combat in Iraq, but in an address to veterans he spoke at length about the difficulties faced by families like Sheehan's.

....

Cheney reiterated Bush's stay-the course message, saying "perseverance" was a part of the U.S. military's history since the nation's founding.

"Iraq is a critical front in the war on terror, and victory there is critical to the future security of the U.S. and other free nations," Cheney said.

5. What I want....
is for someone to ask how Iraq is critical to the war on terror and why and then make him answer instead of accepting the reply of "if we fight them there, they won't be in the US".

I get so sick and tired of repeaters who ask a question where the person being questioned deflects the question and answers a question that wasn't even asked.

7. Cheney didn't get the memo: It's not a war on terror.
It's a struggle against violent extremists. :eyes:

11. Falling dominos..
In the 60's this was called the falling domino theory. If we let one country go to communists the next and the next and the next would fall. This was used to justify our entry into Viet Nam. It wasn't true then and it isn't true now. If we leave Iraq what will happen. Terra rists will invade Syria, then Lebanon, then Israel then Saudi Arabia, maybe Qatar and UAE? Problem is they never invaded Iraq, WE DID. Bullshit reasoning.
