Comment that was told to my ex-husband (who works at a radio station)
The sales manager (who is a Bush fanatic) and the county agent were talking about gas prices.
The County Agent said (paraphrased) Well we went to Iraq to get the goddamned oil. Let's just get it and get out."
:wtf: So they understand WHY we went...and after all the death and destruction, all they care about it we just get it and go.
My fucking head wants to explode.

Does this guy have anyone in the military?. Give him some enlistment papers and tell him he should get his ass over there and speed up the process of getting the oil over here...

7. I think most of my exes would happily pull a Carrie Fisher/Blues Brothers
on me. Except maybe one.

Not that I can do anything about it now, of course. Besides, I think that Mrs. IconCat is secretly glad about the status quo.

4. I still think they went in to disrupt the supply chain.
Which in turn drives up prices for fear of shortages. If we really wanted the oil, we'd have sent a massive force in and been done with it. I think of this as what Enron did to California on a much more massive scale.

8. Bingo. We've "shut down that steamer" in Iraq but at terrible cost

in lives and national treasure. But so long as the Big Boys are making their obscene profits, this administration will think things are going well. Ken Lay isn't in jail, is he? And none of this crew expect to be either.

Edit: Re limiting supply: Remember the movie (I can't!) in which Marlon Brando said, "We're not in the oil business, we're in the oil shortage business."

11. That's about as developed as it gets. SImilar feeling on Iran
When we start bombing the price of oil should go up @50%. Then Venezuela (which has a partnership with Iran) stops any sales that may end up in the US.
I don't think this is quite the scenario the neo-cons envisioned, things have kind of spun out of their control, but at a GREAT profit, so why mess with a good thing?

10. If every soldier grabs a 5-gallon can
of oil and hightails it home on the next flight out, we could all gas up our SUVs again. That or we build a pipeline under the Atlantic Ocean and train killer whales to protect it. It's that easy!

They don't give a damn about human life as long as corporations have what they want!
