Which one of you beotches just yelled at me!?!??!
So, a few hours ago, I'm sitting in the lovely Boston Common, having the nightly gym/ice cream debate. I'm wearing my new hat a friend just got me on a recent trip to DC, the home hat for the neo-expos.

<>

(aka the Washington Nationals). Out of no where comes a girl, mid-late twenties, jeans, flip flops, back shirt. This is what follows:

Girl- "Are you in army?"
Me- "...?" "uhh..no."
Girl- "Well you should be. You should go an enlist right now. If you support Bush and his stupid war, you should go and fight in it."
Me-"......." (keep in mind, I have no idea why she's saying this)
Girl- "What are you a college Republican?"
Me- "Are you..wh..What the hell are you talking about? You don't just go around accusing strangers of being Republicans! That's a terrible thing to say".

Well, obviously, she was confused about the hat. Which leads me to two points.

1- Girl, turn in your MA license RIGHT NOW and move to Connecticut if you can't identify baseball hats.

2- We really shouldn't be doing this. You can't just attack someone. The chicken hawk/why don't you enlist/yellow elephant is fine, if a freeper starts WITH YOU, but to attack a person because you THINK they disagree with your political opinions will not win us many voters. Do you want people harassing YOU because of how you look, what you're wearing, etc etc? No. No you do not.

while I heartily agree with throwing back all of these tactics when called for, we should not be the aggressors here.

We are right, and they are scared. Let them come to us.

oh- and of course, the girl apologized profusely when I told her what the hat was. fess up DU'ers. Which one of you was it.... :)

4. You made me laugh out loud at this line
Me- "Are you..wh..What the hell are you talking about? You don't just go around accusing strangers of being Republicans! That's a terrible thing to say".

Indeed, what horrible accusation to toss out to a total stranger.

9. Connecticut is my least favorite state.
I've had an evil ex boyfriend from there, got a very high speeding ticket there, got a flat tire in the RAIN there, spent a night in a terrible hotel there.

Not CT's fault per say, but I always pick on it.

7. I wouldn't have recognized the hat, either.
But I wouldn't have verbally attacked anyone if I didn't agree with them.

11. Nor I.
I can see where the young woman was confused. I wouldn't have recognized it, and I probably would have made the same assumption she did. But I'd have just rolled my eyes at the W wearer and gone on.

Y'all have to admit. Times are changing. If I were Karen, I would have tried to find a way to laugh it off and to tell the girl that I'm with her, but that she shouldn't jump to assumptions.

We used to complain that our children were too apathetic. I, for one, am tickled pink to see the wildfire burning out of control.

:-)

10. I love that young woman. A girl after my own heart.
Just more evidence that people are fired up and speaking out. I hope you had a good laugh with her and told her that you're on her side. :-)

Agree with you ParrotHeat Terp!! Can't wait for Terps Football from a true MD native

Not a baseball fan, but if I were going to buy a "W" hat, it would have been blue, for the away games

BTW, that is a Senators cap through & through

:)

13. Well, I was kind of insulted, and also
really, really worried about the fact that people would do that. I'm posting here, because I've let off steam (ice cream won) and to let the girl know that all is forgiven.

Just be careful of who you attack.

how this stuff happens to me. Typically, I go years without confronting a stranger. It's been a weird few weeks.

19. Well, it was a red hat with a "W" on it.
She should have asked first what the hat stood for before she laced into you.
