How oil companies profit from vigils..... sad. but true. |
|
The ironic thing about burning candles... especially as it pertains to protesting the illegal blood-for-oil war in Iraq... is that the wax most candles are made from is a byproduct of oil refining... with Exxon Mobil (of Texas) being the largest supplier of wax to candle companies in the US. (I only know this from having owned a one myself).
So please keep this in mind when buying your candles. And tell everyone you know! Beeswax and Soy are both great alternatives.. a bit more expensive... but a hell of a lot better than letting big-oil profit from candles being burned in the name of peace. The bastards get enough of our money already.
PEACE! b~

1. Don't forget the gel candles. They're made from mineral oil. |

3. I was going to ask about gel candles. |

Thanks for the info.
:hi:
Trouble is, I just bought a whole new box of tea lights without even thinking about the oil angle. I'll have to find a new local source ASAP.
