Has anybody heard of the blog site 'Flogging The Simian'?
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 03:41 AM by icymist
What do you think this place is? Is it a single woman reporting on the news from somewhere in Romania? Or is it, like the critics say, A bunch of ex-CIA spies, a bunch of men makining news?
Either way, I find this web site intriguing. Where else can I find suggestions that our war on terror is fought by renegade ex- US soldiers on a bounty hunt? And that this accounts for most of the abuse of prisoners? No, That's only speculation after reading posts from Flogging The Simian.

My question....Is this site legit, or is it not for real?

on edit for grammar.

1. Nope. Not until you brought it to my attention.
But I'll keep checking in every once in a while just for a look at the Eastern European cutie on the banner/header!

(More seriously), on first glance, it appears to be a generic/all-purpose current events blog, ie. she states herself that she tracks world news and blogs on it. That appears to be pretty much it. I do, however, kinda' like the variety of news sources she claims to track. Some I've never even heard of.

Off topic: Personally, the whole blog phenom peaked - then died - for me rather quickly. There's way too many; there are those that have become supposedly "influential", but are really just written by fat, lonely, grotty conservative pigs a la Rush (to use a grotesque Yank example), then there's the very real issue of frauds, nutcases, hatemongers and the like, lots of whom hide behind a cloak of anonimity.

To be honest, I'm confident that "real" journalism will make a full return, and blogging as it stands today (with the liars, frauds and assleaks masquerading as journos) becomes a quirky "thingy/trend" of the past...

2. I checked that blog.
Do you have a link for the "bunch of ex-CIA spies" criticism?

I find it intriguing, too.

Let me know if you learn anything else about it.

3. I couldn't find the critics site again.
I looked where I found it only yesterday and now it's gone. It was a site run by Jack Idema and his gang. There was a question of copyright violations and (I guess) this site was taken down. Go the the 31 part story about Idema on 'Flogging The Simian' if you would like a little interesting light reading.

4. Similar accusations were made against Riverbend.
Why the doubts that they're genuine? Is it because they're single women? And worse - single foreign women?

Quality sites, literate writing - they must be white men!
