2. 11 out of 14 with highest approval ratings are Dems...
Unfortunately, one of those is Lieberman.

5. Lieberman has enjoyed much success in CT.
He has managed to get the tradition democratic vote, and has done well in the more conservative Fairfield county.

9. there are a lot of "moderate" Democrats in Connecticut
The kind that are still reliably Democratic, but fairly moderate on many issues who don't mind a moderate Republican either - hence our RINO governor Jodi Rell has similar numbers to Lieberman, but is probably causing a lot of teeth nashing among RWers for her pro stem cell research, pro public financing of elections, and pro civil unions stands.

12. I found that most of the repub's in ct
were not the social conservatives that you find outside of the Northeast. They tend to be conservative only fiscally (ie tax cuts, etc.)

What is the general feeling about Rell. I left ct a year and a half ago after living there for 20 years. Has Blumenthal made any plans for running?

17. Rell has the media in the palm of her hand still
I'm guessing Blumenthal will not run. If he ran, it would be a tough race for both him & Rell and Rell has been through some tough races with Rowland, while Blumenthal has always won comfortably as AG and may not be ready to for the meat grinder.

Rell has had a few problems, but she really has had an extended honeymoon. She came out in support of full public financing of all statewide elections, but it was 2 days before the legistlative session ended - so, she got great publicity for coming out in support of what is normally a Democratic issue, but she craftily left Democrats a very limited time to debate the issue. So, it died for this year & it made it look like it was the fault of Democrats.

The only thing she got a bit of negative publicity on was vetoing the bill to ban junk food from schools. She said the state shouldn't be in the nanny business, but the state already does a lot of similar things in schools, and the CT Republicans got a lot of money from Coke & Pepsi. However, I don't think you can run a campaign on banning junk food!

A few months back, she implemented a hiring freeze, but then hired a few "buddies" of hers for cushy part-time state jobs. That didn't register with the corporate media, though.... it was a small blurb in the Courant.

3. I guess he isn't getting his message out
Hey, Ricky! Tell us more about women staying home to look after their husbands and kids, even if they don't want to. Tell us more about Massachusetts being the outer circle of Hell. Tell us about more about hot man-dog sex.

That should do it.

He outs himself as a wacko, way, way out of the mainstream.

Let him keep talking.

4. Maine seems to be getting.......
more Reich-wing all the time. I'm seriously concerned with those "down east". Why is there such a conservative stronghold in the otherwise progressive north-east? It just doesn't make sense to me. I know it's not that big a populated state, but it makes the neighboring states look bad with that big red blotch sticking within them.

7. Rick wants to lose, because he has ethical problem with dating employees
Once he's no longer senator, he'll be free to pursue a romantic relation with Bobby Traynor.

13. Typical of these types of ratings
Moderates of both party do well because they do not alienate the other party (this is why Feinstein is ahead of Boxer and why Lieberman is so high, for example).

The other point is that pork has a lot to do with these ratings and typically senior senators are the ones who bring the pork.

16. With the exception of two R's at the top - but here's the beauty:
They are what the wingnuts call RINOs. Probably the least Republican of all Republican senators.

19. Hey Ohio!
Lemme get this straight:

1) Your repuke senators are ranked 96 & 97 out of 100.
2) A sizeable majority of Ohioans disapprove of GWB as their Chimp-in-Chief.
3) Your repuke Governor just got convicted of taking "gifts" from soon-to-be-indicted slimebags.
4) Voters in the 2nd District just recently renewed their vows to the GOP by voting for sleazeball Jean Schmidt over Paul Hackett
5) You're bleeding jobs faster than Lance can pedal to the mailbox
6) The GOP machine in Ohio has been stealing money from its own citizens
7) Lastly, whacko repuke and professional bigot Ken Blackwell gets to screw you over and over again

Um... tell me again why Ohio keeps voting for Republicans?
