One more time for Roman Hruska
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 09:52 AM by pabsungenis
John "Bob" Roberts reminds me of a quote by the late Senator Roman Hruska, speaking about another Supreme Court nominee (G. Harold Carswell) over thirty years ago:

“Even if he was mediocre, there are a lot of mediocre judges and people and lawyers, they are entitled to a little representation, aren't they, and a little chance? We can't have all Brandeises and Cardozos and Frankfurters and stuff like that there.”

How well put.

1. It's worth remembering that pundits of that time
were telling us then what they're telling us now...Carswell was "unstoppable", the Democrats couldn't defeat him, the Democrats were going to lay down and let him in, etc. etc. etc...
