Real Time w/Bill Maher on tonight, 10pmCT, HBO: |
|
Cindy was supposed to appear but because of her ailing mom it looks like Phyllis Schlafly is pitch-hitting. :wtf:
Real Time with Bill Maher returns from hiatus - Friday, August 19 at 11 pm - with roundtable guests Chris Rock, Asa Hutchinson and Kellyanne Conway. Plus, via satellite, Phyllis Schlafly.
This week's Hot Topic: Since 9/11, many in this country - including Bill - have been accused of treason. What constitutes a treasonous act these days?

4. No, I'm not sure of anything. I read on DU Cindy was |
|
supposed to appear tonight via satellite, but since Maher's website says Schlafly is appearing via satellite, I figured Cindy had been replaced due to her pressing personal issues. I dunno; perhaps she'll still be on.

12. Who's Michel Martin? And Kellyanne Conway |
|
Michel Martin appears to be an ABC News correspondent.
Kellyanne Conway is a pollster and a right winger (named one of "Washington's Most Influential Conservatives Aged 40 or Younger," apparently)
Yeah ok - this looks pretty bad. They switched our a reporter and Cindy Sheehan for two right wingers.
I just wasn't sure a direct switch had been mad.

Kellyanne Elizabeth Conway is CEO and president of the polling company™, inc. a privately-held, woman-owned corporation founded in 1995. The firm is headquartered in Washington, DC and maintains an office in New York City. Mrs. Conway is one of the most quoted and noted pollsters on the national scene. Maher and Rock will be blistering. Totally brutal, take no prisoners. Tune in and we'll find out if I'm right. I think the gloves are off. Maher has always had little tolerance and what little he has seems to have dissipated. He has to fake the natural Jon Stewart charm. And it's been getting more and more difficult for him to feign impartiality in the face of wingnuts. I expect him to have thrown the faux diplomacy aside and just be plain venomous. (hope so, anyway). And Rock has got to be totally charged up at this point. He's never been one to hold back. So. Those conservatives who dare to go on Maher's show will be in for a fire fight. How is Phyllis Schafley even relevant? Please. The right must be foundering if this anachronism is fronting their cause. Wonder if Bill will ask Ms. Schafley how the "re-education" of her gay son is coming along. Considering that Ms. Schafley used to blame "bad mothering" as the cause of homosexuality, this would be a legitimate question to ask. And if she believe what she says, that parenting is the cause of homosexuality, (which no rational person believes) then does that mean that, gasp!, Hillary Clinton is a "better" mother than that paradigm....Phyllis Schafley? Headline: Phyllis Schafley lauds Hillary Clinton as "better mother." The mind boggles.

meet with Cindy. Not devil's advocate when he kept backing off of his points and allowing the 2 pigs go eventually unchallenged. He also allowed the myth that Cindy just wanted to meet with Bush to perpetuate, and not standing up for her point of challenging Bush on his lies. He also didn't take Chris Rock seriously. Although it seemed trivial, think of this. People who make minimum wage which is a little over $5.00 an hour are now paying 3/5 of their hourly wage before taxes on gasoline. How do poor people drive their cars to work???

He missed AGAIN the opportunity to hit the nail on the head, most especially when talking about treason. Without naming the shrub, without pointing the finger at anyone, it should have been asked, "Is it not treason to got o war based on many lies?" So many people are complicit in the lies, it would have been a good point to make.
Maher's dropped the ball before, and this time he did it again. Also, Kelly the Coulter wannabe, was given way too much latitude in being allowed to usurp the conversation and to FRAME THE DEBATE!
Do better, Bill...I know you can.
