So Bob Taft "accidentally" "forgot" to mention 47 golf outings?
"I hope that the people of Ohio will understand that this mistake, although serious, was unintentional."

Coincidentally, Bob Taft would not have wanted the voters to know about the golf outings with a scam artist who bilked the taxpayers of Ohio out of millions, and allegedly funneled it into the Buxh/Cheney campaign.

Would Bob Taft and the Ohio State Dept of taxation be as understanding if I "inadvertently" neglected to include out of state purchases in my state tax forms? ....How about 47 of them?

Oops...Did I forget to pay for that gas again?
Uhh...I guess my wife forgets to mail that check every month.
Darn...I've been forgetting to renew my license plates since 1988.
Oh...is that your pen?

When "mistakes" consistently benefit the errant, the intent is hard to ignore.

Coincidentally, a vast majority of voting discrepancies in Ohio fell in favor of GWBuxh's tally.

I'm one of the "people of Ohio" who understands all too well.

1. That would be understrandable if these golf outings were all....
...with former President Gerald Ford (noted for his bean ball hooks).

It's okay, folks -- Gov. Taft didn't MEAN to . . .
get caught.

I'd think the "unintentional mistake" excuse would be lame coming from an eight-year-old. How much worse for a presumably grown man?

4. What I heard on Sirius Left the other day...It's not about the golf,
it's not about the dinners, it is about the culture of corruption that fuels these outings. It is about the deals, the favors, and the misappropriation of public money and resources. They don't go for the golf, or the food...it's for the power, the money, and the influence.

:)Do I hear opportunity knocking? ( Although, I doubt the DLC power brokers will want to hear it.)

5. Bill Cohen's spot on my NPR station this morning...
was about Taft's conviction and do the people of Ohio think he should resign? The "man on the street" interviews were pretty pathetic -- "Oh, everyone makes mistakes...blah, blah, blah."

WAKE UP SHEEPLE!! CONNECT THE DOTS!!

*Sheesh!*

12. They found a deeply partisan crowd to interview because
He's known statewide as "Governor Tax" and ranks 50th in the country in approval.

Probably went to downtown Columbus and looked for Yuppie types.

fraud!

There's a huge investigation in Ohio headed by a federal prosecutor, judge appointed, and consisting of local prosecutors and police investigators who have been selected in merit and distance from politics. This is the real deal and it strikes terror into the Ohio Republicans, their "helpers", and the national Republican Party.

Why? Because all roads lead to Election 2004. Rep. Captur, D of Ohio said this when Coingate broke and a lot of other good Democrats there say it. It's all about election fraud.

Here's a snip on what they call the legal "dream team".

COLUMBUS | One investigator nailed several officials working for the very governor who appointed him. Another sent a congressman to prison. Yet another prosecuted a notorious highway shooter.

The task force investigating Ohio's ballooning state government scandal is a dream team of prosecutors and police with a reputation for ignoring politics in the pursuit of wrongdoing.

<snip>

Noe is under state and federal investigation for his handling of a $50 million investment in state funds in rare coins and for allegations he illegally funneled campaign contributions to President Bush.
The task force is spread from Toledo to Cleveland to Columbus and involves county prosecutors, the state watchdog, U.S. attorneys, the FBI, the IRS and the Department of Justice's public integrity section.

Last year, Morford recommended a federal judge in Michigan toss out prominent terror verdicts against two North African immigrants, finding that prosecutors failed to turn over documents to the defense lawyers.

<snip>

Morford, 46, said his philosophy is sticking close to the evidence and letting politics go by the wayside.

10. Amazing isn't it. And it's a great state. Great cities, and a bunchof
them, smart people, great colleges, lovers of cultire.

I believe Ohio is ground zero for Republican corruption -- elections, theft of state funds, malfeasance on the part of elected and appointed officials.

Looks like the good people there are fed up. Realizing that the whole place can go to Hell if this isn't stopped, they've got a team of hard ball types who will nail the crooks.

What a show--a state fights back against * & Co.

8. what makes me mad is that he is showing no remorse....
no accountability. I'm sorry ,but it was a mistake doesn't cut it. That's just an excuse to pass the buck. The repukes favorite line "I don't remember" or "I forgot". You could forget 1 or 2 maybe but come on, besides, he was the one who initiated this law about the golf outings.
