Josh Marshall on CNN's "Dead Wrong -- Inside an Intelligence Meltdown"
I know many of you value Josh Marshall's opinion and I thought it worthwhile to quote what he has to say here and point you to two excellent discussion threads, here at DU, on the show.

I should be getting a copy tomorrow of 'Dead Wrong -- Inside an Intelligence Meltdown', a documentary CNN has on this Sunday about the Iraq intel failure. But since Sunday is only two days away, I wanted to pass on the following. A friend, whose opinion I put a great deal of stock in, tells me that it's very good. So definitely, if you have a chance, try to catch it Sunday evening.

If I get it in time, I'll post a review tomorrow here on TPM.

I'd just like to add that nothing about the title "Dead Wrong -- Inside an Intelligence Meltdown" should give comfort to America's # 1 terrorist enemy -- the Bush neoconster regime.

Peace.

1. I thought this was supposed to come on a few weeks ago...
I saw a description of it on the cable guide on TV one Sunday, but it turned out to be a different episode. I can't wait to see it!

2. But what about the content? Does it implicate the neocons? n/t

5. Exactly, the WH presented Powell with the documents -- why does the CIA
take the fall for the President

3. A CNN link and a link to comments at HuffPo:
Former aide: Powell WMD speech 'lowest point in my life'

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/08/19/powell.un/index.html

Link to Huffington Post comments:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2005/08/19/former-powell-aide-calls-_n_5922.html

Here's just one of the comments: "Powell literally sold his soul to the devil. Prior to him becoming a 4 star shill for Bush, I respected the man. As did many others."

I'd substitute "war criminal" for "shill"; otherwise, yeap.

Peace.

4. "If this doesn't cause a shitstorm from hell to fall on this freak show ..
Just saw a preview of this on CNN, unfuckingbelievable. Again. UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE. Just wait until you hear the details from David Kay. If this doesn't cause a shitstorm from hell to fall on this freak show administration nothing will.

So, for those of you who watch TV, you may want to check the previews and see if your response is similar to HuffPoster "BB."

Peace.

6. David Kay is, at best, trying to salvage his "image"
he was the worst kind of WMD shill before he went there, including savaging Blix

know anything about SAIC, and his ties to them?

there was LOTS of discussion of that back around the time he went over there with the ISG

he's part of the problem, and it should be widely broadcast as such

do not trust anything he has to say, cause he's got motives

7. Not to worry. I've been watching David Kay's dance for quite some time.
I just thought that quote was entertaining and wanted to share it with all of you.

Peace.

9. I think this is the speech Sec. Powell didn't even want to give
Allegedly, he looked over the script and threw it in the air, yelling "I'm not reading this, this is bullshit!"

Of course, he eventually caved and lied to the world anyway.

8. I think his blog is way overrated
and the mere title of the CNN show is a giveaway; the intelligence seems to have been quite adequate since a middle aged shlub like me knew that all of the administration's statements were bullshit.
