September 24: One united march...Major anti-war organizations unite
This release just came out submitted by United for Peace and Justice and the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition. It already appears on ANSWER's website at http://www.internationalanswer.org/

Here is the joint statement, though to keep all this straight and all the other stuff going on (a great global justice/anti-war feeder march into the larger march is being organized in conjunction with World Bank/IMF weekend), please see http://www.septemberACTION.org:

Statement about a joint rally and joint march for September 24.

The two major antiwar coalitions that have initiated and organized for a massive anti-war March on Washington for September 24 have agreed to organize a joint rally followed by a joint march. Both coalitions will organize under their own banners, slogans and with their own literature for the September 24 demonstration. The joint rally will begin at 11:30 am at the Ellipse in the front of the White House. We urge everyone around the country to unite and come out for the largest possible anti-war demonstration on September 24.

Signed by:

United for Peace and Justice

A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition
(on behalf of the September 24 National Coalition)

2. now if only moveon.org will advertise it
I ask people to call on other major liberal organizations to announce this important mobilization. We had a great deal of trouble in DC getting organizers to announce these marches from the vigil platforms. In most cases, they did. But, we need them to send out emails and support the hard work being done by activists on the ground who are working to stop the war. Cindy Sheehan didn't come out of nowhere. My group has held actions with her; she's the fruits of hard work and organizing. And, all those people in the vigils didn't come out of nowhere. They came because they got the information that something important was afoot.

Please help get the word out and pressure those groups who really can help but are keeping mum right now.

3. Will other cities have reciprocal marches?
I will officially be a father a few days after the 24th, so I can't leave town. But I will be able to march!

5. some cities
Los Angeles and San Francisco will have actions.

If any pop up, we'll be posting them to the septemberaction.org website as we find out (or as others post them). I'm a strong believer in local actions and local organizing, and so I hope that your town does have an action.

Jim

6. Advertise on AAR...
or, if AAR is watching, please start to promote this. It is too important for you not to.

11. Not from a small community like mine
I'm trying to organize a bus where I live that will take people to DC and back. I'll be staying in DC that weekend, myself, but I want to organize this for people where I live.
