2 Illegal Immigrants Win Arizona Ranch in Court
2 Illegal Immigrants Win Arizona Ranch in Court
By ANDREW POLLACK
Published: August 19, 2005
DOUGLAS, Ariz., Aug. 18 - Spent shells litter the ground at what is left of the firing range, and camouflage outfits still hang in a storeroom. Just a few months ago, this ranch was known as Camp Thunderbird, the headquarters of a paramilitary group that promised to use force to keep illegal immigrants from sneaking across the border with Mexico.

Now, in a turnabout, the 70-acre property about two miles from the border is being given to two immigrants whom the group caught trying to enter the United States illegally.

The land transfer is being made to satisfy judgments in a lawsuit in which the immigrants had said that Casey Nethercott, the owner of the ranch and a former leader of the vigilante group Ranch Rescue, had harmed them.

3. I do not give a fuck about who owned the ranch.
The fact that two ILLEGAL immigrants won a ranch from AMERICAN citizen pisses me the fuck off, as it does to 80% of Americans.

5. No, these people should have lost the case, but the ILLEGAL
aliens should not own property.

7. Why?

Is there a U.S. law that says they can't own property?

They won it by filing a lawsuit, not by buying it. It's a little
different if they had crossed illegally and purchased the land, then I would agree with you.

8. um... they have no right to be in this country.
They are breaking immigration laws.

These people should have to SELL the ranch, and give them the proceeds, which they can either

a) spend in Mexico
or

b) use to legally migrate to the US.

13. They don't need to live here to own US property.
If they're smart they will sell it.

But it's their call now.

10. Ok, but if they are not legally allowed in the country
they can't live on that property.

Most of the foreigners who own property also have legal visas or migrant status.

12. I agree. Americans can not buy property (land) in Mexico, so why
should illegals be allowed to here. I don't doubt that many people in foreign countries own property in America, but that doesn't make it right. Last night I was in a liquor store in line behind what were obvious illegal aliens. They bought at least 15 separate lottery tickets (why they didn't get all the numbers on one ticket is beyond me), and their total bill came to $59. The lady handed the cashier FOOD STAMPS for the purchase, and, since there were a lot of people in line, from what I could tell the cashier took the food stamps and gave the lady back a lot of change. Do you all agree with this? I sure don't.

6. Justice is blind, but sometimes she hits the right target.
Maybe you would've felt better if Nethercott had just killed them and buried them out in the desert, that way they couldn't have filed
a lawsuit.
