Best picture from Camp Casey
This picture makes me cry. It felt like it was 120 degreeson the day this lady came to Camp Casey. No one would have blamed her for staying at home in air conditioning and watching CNN to see what was happening at Camp Casey. She could have stayed in town at The Peace House where it was much cooler, even outside in the shade by the side of the house.

But she wanted to come to Camp Casey, as thousands of others have wanted to come and have done so in the last two weeks. And those who couldn't come stood in 1500 vigils all around the country on Wed night. Many of those who can't be there are here on DU, reading and posting on threads about Cindy and Camp Casey. We are all there in spirit, sitting in a ditch by the side of a country road, waiting for the president to show some humanity to a grieving mother.

And Cindy is not even there tonight. She is halfway across the country with her ailing mother. But we are all still there, in that ditch by the side of the country road. We are still there, waiting for the president we didn't elect to act like a decent human being and give a grieving mother a few minutes of his precious vacation time. We are all there in that ditch in the 100+ degree heat, waiting for our president, who has decided he needs to go on with his life, to give some comfort to a mother mourning the loss of her eldest son.

So this lady in this picture wanted to come to that ditch by the side of that narrow country road and join Cindy and all of us in our vigil. This lady wanted to join us while we wait for an inhuman man to do a humane thing.

This, IMO, is the best picture I took at Camp Casey. I cannot look at it without crying. I want to hug this woman and thank her for coming in the heat to sit with Cindy in that ditch by the side of that narrow country road.

8. That is great
And the men helping her too. It shows what type of enviornment the group is. They're all very kind and loving unlike the freepers who aren't much unless you're kissing Bush's ass.

Are you going back tomorrow? Can you talk to her and get her story? I know she probably wanted to be there for support but it would be great to know more.

18. This pic and the one of that little old man from the first day
He was all hunched over, holding a sign he wrote in his shaky handwritting that said "SOMEBODY LIED".

Both pics have touched me deeply.

Thanks for posting!

23. Bless her!
This is a great picture of the great spirit of what is true America. The part that goes beyond what is needed so that we all feel like family standing together in tough times. I can feel this woman's love and I am proud of her. I hope she got some peace and renewal of a sense of hope for this country with her visit.

What an extraordinary effort on her part to participate in a truly noble effort.

I really hope America is watching

(I can't emphasize this enough)

Meanwhile back at the ranch,

King Nobody sits on his throne callously playing a part in a fantasy that in reality will never measure up to even the lowest of expectations.

Great Pic
