Bill Maher is back
and I think that Phylis Schlafly beat him at his own game

Chris Rock felt out of place against that Coulter-wannabe.

Maher is "pro death" - pro abortion and pro death penalty and pro suicide? Nice going Bill.

The only good thing were the bookends: Paul Hackett in the beginning and Maher rant about teaching evolution. One should not teach two viewpoints of science if one of them is crap.

1. The show was definitely sub-par.
Although it did have some good moments sprinkled in. I couldn't stand the blonde hooker.

2. Well, I can agree to disagree with Maher on the Pro death thing.
"pro abortion and pro death penalty and pro suicide?" I think he was trying to prove to her that at least he is consistent. Pro life vs pro-death penalty. I did crack up when he brought up her gay son while she was defending the anti gay rights agenda.

3. That was the best...
expose the hipocracy.

4. To put abortion in the same category as the death penalty
is to lose the argument right then and there and she took him on it.

A bundle of cells is not a human being, even that human being is a monster like that BTK.

She turned the tables on him and said that "unborn babies" have not committed any crime.

We cannot compare the two points. Once we start, we lose. Perhaps this is what he wanted to do.

And I thought she took control when he talked about conservatives having gay children. I thought, she said, we were talking about the Constitution. This was just as bad as when Kerry brought Cheney's daughter - when it was out of context.

5. I agree...
in that third debate when Kerry brought that up I cringed. Maher could have taken it further with the correlation between her views and the rights of her son but he was clearly intimidated by her.

8. Actually, when Kerry did that I respected him more. The right wing
deserves no free pass when it come to their hypocracy toward their seemingly disproportionate number of guy offspring. They trash their own children and when Maher or Kerry or anyone exposes their hypocracy. It's a good day for the truth and for human rights.

12. Yes, we need to point their hypocrisy, but we need to know how
and when to do this.

Schlafly did not come flat out to say that she opposed gay marriage. She said that this should be decided by the legislative branch, not by the court. Sure, one can start arguing that this can be an interpretation of the 14th amendment, or give other examples where the court needed to intervene. I am not a Constitutional scholar and if memory serves, Schlafly does have a law degree, a 60 year old degree but more than I have..

7. She was really testy on the subject of her gay son
It was clear she was embarrassed by that fact & seemed offended at the very mention of it. Normally, I don't like to take cheap shots BUT in light of the aforementioned, how many decades do you think it's been since she ran a comb through that hair?

6. Did anyone else hear Asa Hutchinson refer to "clean skin"?
What the hell?

Peace.

11. That needs to be in the campaign ad for the candidate running
against him in Arkansas! No doubt! That was bad!

Peace.

10. WRONG
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 11:55 PM by Blue_Roses
Watched the entire thing and Bill had Schlafly in her place with the 10 commandents comment. He was using total respect and restraint to his conservative guest, but I think he did great. Chris Rock was just mad. He doesn't know how to vocalize his thoughts so he just rants. Not a good match-up with Asa Hutchenson and bitch woman Kellyanne Conway. Bill was on his on.
