Who Will Be the First Candidate to Drop Out? |
|
We all know CMB, AS, and DK don't have a shot at the nomination, but they are all face candidates, simply trying to bring attention to themselves and/or their causes. And while he's a legitimate candidate and seems to have a good idea of what the hell he's talking about, Bob Graham's campaign isn't taking off. The same can be said for John Edwards. The thing is, Edwards has said he isn't running for the Senate again, while I don't recall Graham making that statement. As some have said, Clark could burn out, but it doesn't seem as though that's happening any time soon.
So who will be the first to drop out?

His campaign is really not going anywhere. He seems too rational to stick around too long in a race he cannot win. CMB, AS, or DK won't be the first; that's not what their campaigns are about. More about ideas than ambition.

Its got to be him. His national security platform has been taken over by Clark and he is not taking off. We need him in the senate anyway. Third Quarter fund reports will be out soon. Get ready for "I think its time I start to refocus on serving the great people of Florida...protect them from the extremist agenda in Washington...but at this time I will not endorse...We met some fabulous people....

I only wish Edwards had decided to do the same, but maybe he figured he wouldn't have had such an easy time running for reelection.

Great American, great Democrat - might be the VP, but can't get it going. I hope he isn't saddled with campaign debt.

12. It's still too early to tell |
|
Dean is becoming the frontrunner, a label that will be cemented depending on how his third quarter fundraising results turn out and how he is doing in Iowa, NH, and SC, as well as the states beyond that, in the coming weeks.
If Kerry can stop the bleeding, he could have a good shot. In the same regard, if Clark can continue to climb in the early states, he's definately got a good shot.
As for Lieberman, he's not doing well in the early states, but some said that his strategy might be to focus on the more conservative states after Iowa and NH so that he can sweep those, knocking out the person who wins those, most likely Dean. Is there any polling information for states like Delaware and Arizona and so on? It'd be interesting to see if that's true.
As for Gephardt, he's doing well in Iowa, I think, but not so well in NH.

17. Well, out of the legitimate candidates, I'd say |
|
it would be Edwards. But neither he or Gephardt are running for reelection for Congress, so who knows.

11. Graham, not Lieberman |
|
Reportedly Graham's third quarter fundraising totals are disappointing, to put it charitably, and that's only going to make it that much more difficult for him to raise money during the fourth quarter.
Sorry, DU'ers, but Lieberman isn't going going to drop out anytime soon. It's possible that he'll end up raising more money this quarter than any other candidate except for Dean. Even if he finishes behind Kerry, it still sounds like he'll end up raising more money than Gephardt and Edwards, and far more than Graham.

19. Lieberman should drop out. |
|
He's really pathetic. I was reading this article from France's national public TV network's website: http://infos.francetv.fr/semiStatic/64-NIL-NIL-261903.html . It's about the CIAgate story, and it has a quote from Lieberman criticizing Bush, but it refers to him as (conservative) Democratic candidate. LOL! The guy's a freaking joke.
