I Give a Sheet Vigial (Rethug counter-protest in Crawford)

This is so wrong in so many ways.... From the Iconoclast:

Two prayer vigils were held this morning. At 8 a.m., supporters of President Bush, American troops, and the mission of Iraqi freedom held an "I give a sheet" vigil, prayer rally, and breakfast at the Crawford Community Center. Over 35 sheets from Georgia alone were hung up. They are filled with signatures of support for President Bush. The original plan was to deliver photographs of the sheets to the President, wash the actual sheets and donate them to homeless shelters in Texas. However, permission was given to deliver the actual sheets. It is unclear whether they will now be donated to shelters.

The thugs are mobolizing. Setup at the intersection of the two main streets in Crawford, support from wacky guy, etc.

The Iconoclast IMHO has given the best up to the minute coverage of the protest.

Some of the other blogs (Truthout in particular) have been better at times, but the Iconoclast seems to be the most consistant.

I like reading indiviudal stories as well since they usually stick to "hard facts", but the first thing I do after being away from my computer is to look at them to get a feel for what's been going on.

I mean, its a play off of 'I give a shit'. Facinating in and of itself, it counters the earlier 'we don't care' chant. All that is message craft, but a prayer vigil to proclaim 'i give a shit'? Tacky phrasiology, IMO.

That was supposed to be the "compassionate" angle to this stunt -- furnishing the homeless with the sheets after they were washed.
Now it's "unclear" as to whether that will happen, as "permission was given to deliver the actual sheets" -- rather than just photos of them -- to the pretzeldent.

Hmmm.... maybe we can start yelling that chimpy is stealing sheets from the homeless???
