You know what? FUCK Lance Armstrong.
A photo op with Bush while Camp Casey sits practically in the Pig Farm's front yard??

PIG. He belongs on the Pig Farm in my opinion. If I could retract donations, his foundation's would be first on the list.

37. Do you suppose
That a cancer survivor may be helping fund cancer research for his own self-interest? Don't you think Lance worries a little, late at night, that his cancer will return?

Besides that, I appreciate when I somehow find out that people have been doing nice things ANONYMOUSLY. When people make such a big deal of their own philanthropy, you KNOW it's PR.

He's pretty self-aware and confident COMPLETELY on his own, and he is not shy about telling Bush where he thinks he's screwing up. I doubt there are even a handful of people who get close enough to Bush to say something.

11. I think we need to wait and see what comes out of it. Armstrong
seems to be an intelligent and genuine individual. He may see this as an opportunity to further the cause of working for cancer research. He has stated we needed to be more involved in the war on cancer than the other war we are involved in. I hate seeing him in the photo ops with Bush and that could hurt his cancer movement if he is not careful. After all over 1/2 of this country and probably higher now have no confidence in this man or his administration.

In closing Armstrong may want to keep a safe distance from Bush while riding, you know Bush's crash record and sent the Scot police officer to the hospital.

23. He could have said 'while I am honored
by President Bush's invitation to go on a bike-ride, I feel that the president's time is limited. Therefore it would be inappropriate for me to take his time for something as trivial, (by comparison) as a bike-ride, when there are other way more important issues to which he, I'm sure, would rather give his time.

Therefore, I am giving up my time with the president to the mother of one of our heroes in Iraq, who has asked to speak to Mr. Bush and who has taken the trouble to go to Crawford to do so.'

Imagine the position that would put Bush in? Lance Armstrong could have struck a blow for his country today ~ he could have given his time to Cindy, leaving Bush with no excuse not to see her.

I too, would give to another organization if he turns out to be a collaborator in the death and destruction wrought on Iraq by this administration. He would not be a good spokesperson for saving lives, imo.

Bush isn't just any Republican. he's the Republican that's ruining our country.

People really have to realize you're cast by the friends you associate with.

Lance associates with evil, therefore.

Also, do you REALLY think Bush will throw his support at anything that doesn't help either Bush personally or his oil friends. Lance knows going in that playing with Bush on his ranch isn't getting him squat.

Puh-lease get off this false hero worship and come back to reality.

Pretty soon, the community as a whole will just hate everyone (I think we're close already).

A community so filled with hate is a community that is incapable of doing anything constructive, and thus, incapable of leading.

If Bush had gone to the Tour De France and asked for a photo op DU would've been up in arms if Lance had given any response than... "Fuck you Mr. President, I don't take pictures with war criminals." I have great respect for people that choose to voice their opinions in this manner. Lance has obviously chosen to voice his opinions in another manner and that's fine too.

Lance is trying to promote his cancer research and trying to get Bush to spend more federal money on it. Of course they were photographed, photographers follow the President EVERYWHERE.

34. Actually, you should read this:
http://www.lancearmstrongfanclub.com/uktimesonline.html

It's an interview/discussion written by Alastair Campbell. Some snips below...

Once we settle down to talk at a long wooden table, we are swapping stories about George W. Bush, his fellow Texan. We agree that our politics are different to Bush's, but that the President is smarter, funnier and more likeable than the caricature. Even Sheryl, whose politics Armstrong describes as "way out Left", says that it's hard to meet Bush and not like him. I had assumed, because he and Bush were Texans and I'd seen pictures of them laughing and joking in the Oval Office, that Armstrong was a Republican. But he says his politics are "middle to Left". He is "against mixing up State and Church, not keen on guns, pro women's right to choose". And very anti war in Iraq.

So the "summit" has begun and here I am, thinking that I'd be getting hours of top-quality insight for my triathlon training, and, instead, it's like I am back in my old job, defending military action, defending the Bush-Blair relationship, insisting we did the right thing and saying, long term, it will make the world a safer place. But Armstrong is screwing up his face and he won't have it. "I don't like what the war has done to our country, to our economy," he says. "My kids will be paying for this war for some time to come. George Bush is a friend of mine and just as I say it to you, I'd say to him, 'Mr President, I'm not sure this war was such a good idea', and the good thing about him is he could take that."

I'm not defending Lance, nor his meeting with the chimpinator. Just trying to point some things out.

53. As the old saying goes
The devil is known to be quite the charming fellow.

Look, I'm not terribly upset about this. Lance is doing what he has to do for his charity, and a photo op with the President helps him bring in the cash. In many ways this is akin to other champions, World Series winners, Superbowl winners, etc. doing a photo op with the President.

Lance is pretty left leaning in his politics, moreso than some folks around here, and gee, there is always Sheryl to keep him in line, and I know that she is quite liberal.

35. If you have one of those "Livestrong" bracelets
You might consider sending it back to them, and say that with Mr. Armstrong palling around with war criminal and subhuman George W. Bush, you found that the bracelet was just burning your skin wherever it touched. So many persons, military, civilian, alleged terrorist, and bystander, are unable to live -- strong, weak, or at all -- because of the heinous policies of Mr. Bush.

While you're all for cancer research and finding effective treatment, the hypocrisy of the bracelet (save for its yellow color) is just too much for you to wear it any longer.

I mean REALLY. Lance Armstrong is going to school this guy on anything? Are there two chimps in Crawford, because the vicious, sick, little creep that thinks he is always right, and has no problem going to war like Norman Bates dresses like his mom, is the only one there I know.

Worshipping sports stars does have a limit.

He endorsed Paris last year for the Olympic games ! It was deemed "unpatriotic" for about 12 seconds on the MSM, then buried, with all the other hypocritcal bullsh*t.

This guy is NO HERO, he dumped his wife (family value?) because she had a hard time handling the "spotlight" with him. D'oh, she did support him through the cancer thing  Oh yeah, mom to his kids too, a lonely job during his gazillion hours of training, ya think!?!

He's planning on running for office...:silly:

70. Kerry visited LANCE
not the other way around.

Besides, I can name you another couple of politics makes strange bedfellows couples:

Ahnold and Maria
Carville and Matlin.

Just because his girlfriend is dem it doesn't make him dem. Also, any liberal policies he happens to have, I'll tell you that Ahnold has pretty much the same ones.

In addition, Lance is self-proclaimed left-leaning. However, name one high profile Democrat that has ever visited the president for a social outing. Name just one.

72. I can think of some other couples
Ahnold and Maria
Carville and Matlin.

Sheryl Crow's leftyness doesn't make Lance a Lefty.

Lance is a righty, face it. Even Kerry said he worried if Lance ran for office which side he would run on. I think he'd run as a Republican.

He isn't just any Republican, either, he affiliated himself with the scum in the Whitehouse, the murderous liar who got us into this fruitless pointless war, who condones the outing of CIA agents, who ruins our country.

This isn't freeping, this is calling a spade, a spade. Lance is fraternizing with evil. He who lies with rats gets rat feces covered.

My opinion of Lance has gone done several notches because of this little b.s bike ride. I used to think he was pretty cool.

Furthermore, I am disgusted with many other celebrities like Oprah who have the money and the power and the media access to open peoples eyes and sway peoples opinions about * & Co!!! Why are they siting on their asses and by their silence endorsing the BFEE???!!!

Meanwhile Cindy Sheehan and all the good people at Camp Casey are practically screaming at the top of their lungs for the people of this country to hear of the evil that the BFEE has perpetrated! Only the majority of the people cannot hear them because Cindy and the good people at Camp Casey don't have the same kind of access to the media!!!

74. Lance is trying to benefit his cause
If you are trying to raise money for cancer research, it is a good idea to meet with the president of the United States. He'd be doing a pretty lousy job if he allowed partisan politics to take priority over his cancer foundation.

Give it a rest. Lance Armstrong was at the Kerry headquarters on election night 2004. He is a Democrat, who is simply smart enough to understand that having a good relationship with Bush, could encourage the gov't to to spend more money on cancer research - and saves people's lives. It sounds like Lance has his priorities in order - but I'm not so sure about you.

Lance is a Democrat (who John Kerry is trying to get to run for Congress) and an inspirational story. But, like Bono, he doesn't let his personal politics get in the way of trying to help more people.

against the war, this is a pathetic and ignorant way to show it. He knows he has celebrity,he knows most Americans worship celebrity, and he knows what he says won't matter one bit..it is the fucking photo ops that people will remember.

And if he really expects this pResident to give half a shit about cancer research.that's a good one. His hospital, doctor and pharmaceuritcal friends would never let that happen,hell,60% of the hospitals would be empty if the cancer patients went home.

Hell.Armstrong can ride the shit out of a bike, seems to me he is healthy enough to ride a humvee in Iraq..go over there Lance, your president says it is the greatest calling of all!

Actually, ours went in the garbage today....never to be worn again. Does Armstrong REALLY believe the idiot is going to do ANYTHING to help with cancer research? Foolish, foolish, foolish move on Armstrong's part.. He also lost a lot of support from we 'ordinary' folk. STUPID thing for him to do! Dumb, dumb, dumb.

He could have postponed that meeting until the idiot was back in DC. He didn't have to do it while Cindy and the protesters are in Crawford. Shame on him.

I'm also surprised the idiot actually allowed a Dem on his faux ranch.

That meeting was all about PR... No more no less..( Who will donate $$$$ to my cancer foundation)

Check out this site http://www.newsmeat.com
