For those who live in 'Red' (Repub) areas. During the Clinton presidency,
8 years with generally very good economy for the U.S., were your Republican acquaintances unhappy and angry all the time? Weren't they doing well? At least the ones with money...

Are they more happy now, in this environment, than during Clinton?

1. My boss nearly slugged one
the other day who had the audacity to defend Bush. As my boss said, under Clinton, we were better off. Bush has been a disaster. Knowing that my boss is an ex-football player who still coaches sports, I think the Repuke sort of slunk out of the coffee shop. (This was NW Arkansas, btw)

2. The 8 years of Clinton prosperity were due to Poppy's initiatives
Didn't you know that? And *'s economic troubles are due to Clinton's 8 years of bad economic policy.

3. I'm just talking about how people were DOING then. Not the current
wingnut justifications for why things were good then or not good now.

Clinton. And in some of the Red States like Florida, NC, GA and SC switched over into Real Estate boom masking all the tech and manufacturing jobs going overseas.

Where I live in NC thinks look very prosperous with new McMansions and Real Mansions that have gone up since Bush was installed. New shopping centers/malls/restaurants and stores. Our shore areas are booming so strong that thousands of jobs have been created in Real Estate services plus folks working in the banks giving mortagages and the service people who work on the lawns and the construction industry.

I don't know what will happen if the bottom falls out of real estate or people can't re-fi their mortgages to pull more equity out of their homes. Maybe then folks will realize that it was easy money that masked the jobs that were lost in tech, textiles, manufacturing.

Maybe the Bushies will create another bubble...but that's why I think folks in the Southern Red States, anyway aren't upset with the economy or Bush. They're happy and think that prosperity is here. They are able to ignore the areas in their states where the proverty has increased because the Real Estate boom went to the big cities and the shore property.
