What is it with these Generals? Are thae all drinking Kool-Aid? |
|
On the Ron Insana show earlier today he had a couple of guests discussing the Iraq war. One was a general with the nickname "Buzz" something or other. I didn't catch the guy's full name. He went on and on about how the US was progressing with building schools, and generally rebuilding the country, etc. A caller from Massachusetts who identified himself as a republican called in to argue with him about the mess we are in over there, and how we should have gotten out long ago. He thought the war was a big mistake. He said we have no business rebuilding Iraq or any country. The general made some wise-ass comment about how it was unlikely he was a republican if he was calling from Massachusetts.
Here's a news flash, general - If you hope to keep any remaining support for your military effort you'd best stop dissing your republican friends, because even they are slowly seeing the light. That guy will likely never vote republican again, after what you said to him. (Which is just fine, thank you).
PS - The callers were almost entirely against this whole debacle, which was a bit of a surprise. Even Insana acknowledged support for the war effort was sinking fast in recent polling.

1. Hey, there's a good tactic to make more democrats! |
|
Whenever a republican says anything that makes sense, you yell at him or her and tell them that they MUST be a liberal, and scoff at them...I think this general knows how to make converts!

5. Right. Take someone on your side and alienate them. |
|
Great war strategy, General.
Keep up the fine work.

6. suppose for a moment the general came out against the war on a talkshow |
|
How do you think that might affect his/her career? Ask Gen. Shinseki about the response he received for his criticisms sometime.
Now I'm not saying that's any excuse for these guys to publically dissemble, but it is going to have an impact on which set of opinions are more likely to be heard from the pentagonians.
