Fitzgerald indicts Novak's former boss at the Chicago Sun Times!
Edited on Sat Aug-20-05 09:04 PM by Joanne98
Wayne Madsen Report.....
http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/
August 20, 2005 -- Another Patrick Fitzgerald shot across the bow of the neo-cons. U.S. Attorney for Chicago (and special prosecutor in the Valerie Plame/BJ & A White House leak) Patrick Fitzgerald has indicted former Chicago Sun-Times publisher David Radler for the theft of $32 million from the Sun-Times parent company, Hollinger Corporation. Radler is also a past owner of Canada's Ottawa Citizen and Vancouver Sun.

Sign of things to come? Prosecutor Fitzgerald indicts Novak's former big boss at the Chicago Sun Times

Owned until 2003 by Conrad Black, Hollinger also includes the Jerusalem Post and London Daily Telegraph, two papers that have been propaganda arms of the neocon movement and at the forefront of attacks on anti-Iraq war politicians. Although Fitzgerald did not indict Black, it is believed the prosecutor will have Radler testify against his former business partner. Former Hollinger board member and arch-neocon Richard Perle was, in addition to Radler and Black, cited in a 2004 Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) report on fraudulent financial activity at Hollinger. Black's wife, Barbara Amiel Black, a strongly pro-Israeli columnist for the Telegraph and Maclean's and a former Vice President of Hollinger, was cited in a class action lawsuit brought by Canadian investors in Hollinger. Amiel Black has been vociferous in attacking politicians, including British MP George Galloway, who have criticized the invasion of Iraq. The indictment of the Sun Times' former publisher Radick, who has been another strong promoter of Likud and neocon causes, is also significant in light of the Plame matter. The Sun Times syndicates Robert Novak, the first journalist to reveal in his column Valerie Plame's CIA identity and that of her Brewster Jennings non official cover company. That leak is at the center of Fitzgerald's probe of Karl Rove, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, and others in the Bush administration for violations of national security laws.

Sun Myung Moon's empire of political influence and phony journalism may also be exposed soon. In what may not be an unrelated story to the Hollinger indictments, on Aug. 19, South Korean prosecutors raided the headquarters of the South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) in Seoul, seizing boxes and computer disks. It was the first time the agency, once called the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA), has been raided by the authorities in its entire 45-year history. It has long been suspected that South Korean intelligence financially props up Sun Myung Moon, the owner of neocon Washington Times and other right-wing propaganda outlets around the world. The raid and investigation of the NIS may also result in exposures of Moon's ties to criminal elements in Asia and powerful politicians in the United States and other countries.

Motto to these two stories: It's not wise to irritate and inflame the US intelligence and law enforcement infrastructures. Pay backs, as they say, came be nasty.

13. Led Zepplin wrote a song for * and company ..... "When the Levee Breaks"
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break,
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break,
When The Levee Breaks I'll have no place to stay.

Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan,
Lord, mean old levee taught me to weep and moan,
Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home,
Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well.

Don't it make you feel bad
When you're tryin' to find your way home,
You don't know which way to go?
If you're goin' down South
They go no work to do,
If you don't know about Chicago.

Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.

All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
All last night sat on the levee and moaned,
Thinkin' 'bout me baby and my happy home.
Going, go'n' to Chicago,
Go'n' to Chicago,
Sorry but I can't take you.
Going down, going down now, going down

38. Curt Weldon, of the recent "Able Danger" thingy was there:
The "Moon Coronation" video is at this link, too.
Freaky!
<<snip>>
Weldon, Khadafy and Moongate
You'll recall that, when I wrote my Gadflyer article, Rep. Curt Weldon's office claimed that he didn't speak at the coronation of Sun Myung Moon. First his secretary said, "I'm telling you, he didn't go." So I sent her some links. She then said Weldon planned to attend this awards show, but couldn't make it due to his schedule. Then I sent her a photo of Weldon at the event. It showed him surrounded by Moonists. His involvement, she now said, was "limited to his attendance," as if he'd just been on his way to a nearby committee meeting and poked his head through a curtain.
But here's a new picture of Weldon giving a speech at the event! What's that he's pinning on Kadhafy? Did Kadhafy score one of Moon's Ambassadors for Peace Awards while Weldon was leading a delegation to Libya to talk WMDs? If so, that would be pretty awesome, placing Khadafy in the same A.F.P. winners circle as neo-Nazi William Baker. (Update: According to Weldon's office, it's an American flag pin.)

So Khadafy now loves peace. If this rumor about trying to kill the ruler of Saudi Arabia is true, however, he has a funny way of showing it. Maybe the idea is that he'll see the light after he enters The Spirit World and accepts Moon as his personal Messiah, which is what Rev. Moon says happened to Stalin and Hitler.
...reader cs is reasonably confused:
I don't get the inset photo of Weldon pinning something on Khadafy's lapel. The linked article says Weldon, Issa and Ortiz met Khadafy in a tent set up outside his bombed out home in Tripoli, but in the photo there are marble walls in the background.
...Update: And in the spirit of bipartisanship, I do have to ask why Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-Il.) is listed as the "chair" of Moon's enormous International and Interreligious Federation for World Peace, which is close to synonymous with the Unification Church. Didn't Davis hear about the time in 2000 that Jesse Jackson booted Moon's "Pure Love Alliance" from the Chicago school systems?
Here's an IIFWP movie declaring that "the era of the eternal peace kingdom is upon us." The video, which I'm watching--
81 senators and congressmen?!
That's a new post, hold on a second.
Previously: Weldon and a Democrat endorse Moon on the floor of Congress.

54. "though Fitzgerald did not indict Black, it is ..." seems to me that the

subject line of the first post is misleading.

......Although Fitzgerald did not indict Black, it is believed the prosecutor will have Radler testify against his former business partner. Former Hollinger board member and arch-neocon Richard Perle was, in addition to Radler and Black, cited in a 2004 Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) report on fraudulent financial activity at Hollinger.

FORMER SUN-TIMES PUBLISHER INDICTED
U.S. says $32 million skimmed from Hollinger

By James P. Miller and Matt O'Connor
Tribune staff reporters
Published August 19, 2005

A federal grand jury indicted ousted Chicago Sun-Times Publisher F. David Radler on fraud charges, saying he illegally helped funnel about $32 million in corporate funds to a private company he co-owns.

Also named in Thursday's seven-count indictment was Mark Kipnis, former head corporate lawyer for Hollinger International Inc., the media holding company that owns the Sun-Times.

The two men were supposed to make sure Hollinger properly disclosed its dealings, said U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald, but they instead "made it their business to conceal those transactions ... because insiders at the company were stealing money."

Although the indictment marks the first criminal charges to emerge from the financial scandal that began to engulf Hollinger in 2003, it may not be the last.

Black in peril as right-hand man helps US investigation
By David Usborne In New York
Published: 21 August 2005

Conrad Black seemed to be in deepening legal peril yesterday following the filing of criminal charges by United States prosecutors last week against his former right-hand man in his crumpled newspaper empire.

Most ominously for the Canadian-born Lord Black of Crossharbour, David Radler, a co-founder of Chicago-based Hollinger International and a close friend for 30 years, has agreed to co-operate with prosecutors who said that their investigation into what happened at the company is not yet over.

They were the first criminal charges filed since November 2003, when allegations first arose that Lord Black and other executives had enriched themselves illicitly from Hollinger funds. Since then, the media conglomerate has virtually imploded and Lord Black and his wife, Barbara Amiel, have been cast as social pariahs.

Last week's charges targeted three defendants: Mr Radler, a former chief company lawyer, Mark Kipnis, and the company which Lord Black used to control his empire, Ravelston Corporation. Most legal observers saw no comfort for Lord Black in the fact that he was not among those charged last week. It is typical in such corporate cases for prosecutors to trawl executives slightly lower down the chain of command in hope of using them to net the biggest fish.

31. WOW - let's hope that both of these new arms of investsigation lead
to TRUTH and exposure of the world-wide criminal ring that includes the gang that has stolen our country.

For some time now I have believed that attacking Wilson's credibility was NOT the primary aim in the Plame leak. The main goal was delilberate disruption of intelligence gathering for WMDs in the Middle East. For much more - you'll see how it all ties together - see this thread:

35. Great Post!!! There's "trouble in paradise"--ruling elite's civil war.
Well, well, well, this is such good news, if Wayne Madsen is right about the Moon indictments in Korea. We are clearly witnessing a civil war in the ruling elite. Moon has operated with impunity for decades despite a boat load of potential criminal charges. So has the Chicago Sun crew. Now we've got Fitzgerald going after them (let's see Denny Haste rt get him fired now) and Korea cracking down on Moon. This is explosive stuff. Any one piece of the network that gets indicted involves all the other nodes. The network can operate but will slow down and the connections (e.g., Perle w/Hollinger) will discredit a lot of neocons.

This is huge!

Perle Asserts Hollinger's Conrad Black Misled Him

Mr. Perle, a top Pentagon official in the Reagan administration, wielded considerable influence in foreign-policy circles as recently as 2002 as an intellectual parent to the neoconservatives. He was named to the Hollinger board in 1994, joining other like-minded men selected by Lord Black, a self-made businessman from Canada who surrounded himself with conservative thinkers. He particularly did that at Hollinger, a global media company whose holdings at the time included The Chicago Sun-Times, The Jerusalem Post, The Sunday and Daily Telegraph and The Sydney Morning Herald.

43. Here's the Chicago Tribune report:

44. I guess this current indictment goes back to this
Today in Finance for September 01, 2004

'Corporate Kleptocracy' at Hollinger

The company allegedly paid for personal perks that included corporate jets, a $42,000 birthday party, and the refurbishment of a Rolls Royce.

Ed Zwirn, CFO.com
September 01, 2004

Conrad Black, Hollinger International’s former chief executive officer, David Radler, its former chief operating officer, and other controlling shareholders and associates constituted a “corporate kleptocracy” which systematically looted the company of more than $400 million, according to a report issued Tuesday.

The 513-page report, filed in a Chicago court by a special committee of Hollinger’s board that is probing financial improprieties at the company, alleges that the group stole what amounted to 95.2 percent of Hollinger’s adjusted net income from 1997 to 2003.

Soon after becoming a public company a decade ago, “Hollinger went from being an expanding business to becoming a company whose sole preoccupation was generating current cash for the controlling shareholders, with no concern for building future enterprise value or wealth for all shareholders,” according to the report.

<<snip>>

The committee “knows of few parallels to Black and Radler’s brand of self-righteous, and aggressive looting of Hollinger to the exclusion of all other concerns or interests, and irrespective of whether their actions were remotely fair to shareholders,” the report stated.

59. 81 Congresscritters attend the crowning of the Messiah (quicktime video)
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 08:35 AM by Joanne98
Here ya go....

6/12/2004
The ultimate Moongate video: 81 Congressmen attended
"The era of the eternal peace kingdom, one global family under God, is upon us..."
This deeply weird Quicktime movie, which sounds like something played to motivate the bald-headed drones in "THX-1138," claims that 81 of your senators and members of Congress attended the event crowning Sun Myung Moon the Messiah. You know, the one that Congressmen listed in the program claimed not to have heard of.

26 ambassadors to the United States.

450 "leaders from various fields."

There are scenes that defy belief.

It begins with "congratulatory remarks" from Weldon (pictured speaking) and others. Black Congressional Caucus chairman Elijah Cummings then says that Moon is "consistently standing up for what is right. And I'm so pleased that he will be receiving an award tonight, for he richly deserves it."

Howard Stephenson, a state senator, now shows up and says he's repenting for the Trail of Tears, which is nice of him considering he's from Utah. Then Rep. Danny K. Davis reads a poem by Reverend Moon! And House leader Dennis Hastert sends a congratulatory statement.

The voiceover then explains that Moon's troubles in the United States in the '70s were due to "racial discrimination." The implication hanging over all of this is that all these Congressmen are apologizing to him for his Christ-like suffering (which includes being convicted by the U.S. justice system.)

61. The link doesn't work. Sorry. Here's the transcript.......
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 10:33 AM by Joanne98
My transcript of Moon's video, for easy reference. Did you know that "God's painful heart was eased" by U.S. Congressmen? I never realized that this work fell to the legislative branch.

WHOOSH. People are playing drums. Energy beams are whooshing around the solar system. Children frolic. There's a Video Toaster whirlpool effect.

ANNOUNCER
The great march of human history towards peace!

Choral music. We see a forest. In a window, footage of famous authoritarians appear: Stalin, then Kim Il Sung. Finally, Sun Myung Moon.

ANNOUNCER
The 20th century was a dramatic turning point in history, when humanity crossed through the Pass of Freedom, and traversed the Sea of Equality, to finally approach the Gates of Peace.

Airlines, people going to work, making phone calls, using the Web. Then: Action music. Footage of important 1990s events in the time-honored style of "Right Here, Right Now": tanks, etc. Then Moon's "Crown of Peace" music comes in.

ANNOUNCER
The Cold War has come to an end, and now: a new world of peace, without national boundaries, so longed for by all people and nations, is about to dawn.

We see Moon's festivals in the Middle East.

ANNOUNCER
The power of true love in action, guided by a vision for an ideal world. The dream of surmounting the high walls between religions. Between races. Between nations. And between world views. Is becoming a reality.

The era of the Eternal Peace Kingdom, one global family under God, is upon us.

Moon's logo whooshes around a number of scenes, including a picture of him as king. The effect is similar to those in M.C. Hammer's "2 Legit 2 Quit" video.

Title card: TRUE PARENTS' CROWN OF PEACE CEREMONY. The music now gets jaunty as we see the Washington Monument.

ANNOUNCER
On Mar. 23, 2004, in the Dirksen Senate Office building, in Washington, D.C. in the U.S., 81 U.S. Senators and Members of Congress...26 ambassadors to the United States...and some 450 leaders from various fields...came to participate in an Ambassadors for Peace Awards...and Crown of Peace Ceremony.

The program for the evening was presided over by the respected Baptist minister and civil rights leader Rev. Walter E. Fauntroy, who served in the U.S. Congress for some 20 years.

We see Fauntroy, then Rep. Curt Weldon speaking.

ANNOUNCER
The evening began with congratulatory remarks from representatives of the Senate and House of Representatives.

Music fades.

REP. ELIJAH CUMMINGS
Always standing up for what is right. Consistently standing up for peace. And I'm so pleased that he will be receiving an award tonight, for he richly deserves it. And I've come here, #1, to thank you for what you do, every day.

UTAH SEN. HOWARD STEPHENSON
As an ancestor of the white settlers, the pilgrims, and those who moved westward, pushing out the Native Americans, I stand here as a representative of my people in a spirit of repentance for the Trail of Tears. Which we imposed upon the Native Americans (of this country.)

Applause.

ANNOUNCER
Following this, awards were presented to the Ambassadors for Peace <...> where there was hate, they gave love. Where there was conflict, they brought reconciliation...

The shofar-blowing rabbi is shown prominently. We also see awards resembling Olympic gold medals.

ANNOUNCER
...drew applause, as each person was honored for living for the sake of others...

This goes on for a while. Moon is in the audience clapping. And then:

ANNOUNCER
And a miracle happened that day. One rabbi, seeing Christians, Muslims and Jews coming together in a spirit of reconciliation, suddenly came to the stage to give a prophetic proclamation.

DISSIPATED-LOOKING RABBI
Angels Malochim run to this holy chair of the throne room. They say, Is it time for the true Mesioch to come? Is it time for the true Messiah to come? I will now do this. Because I have never seen this miracle, where Jews, Christians and Muslims COME TOGETHER FOR PEACE!

He toots the ram's horn. Now we cut to Illinois Rep. Danny K. Davis at the podium.

DAVIS
I was reading this poem, 'Crown of Glory...'

Davis now reads a poem Moon wrote at the age of 16, which Moon recently entered in a phony poetry contest scam.

Archbishop Stallings, who left the Catholic Church to follow Moon, now shows up and gives a speech.

STALLINGS
...Now it is time for America to OPEN UP ITS HEART ...to open up her heart ... and to receive this gift from God who has come among us as one who stands in the spirit of Jesus The Christ to lead all of us in the work of restoration. If you open up your hearts to receive him, your minds will follow.

Moon gives an 'Aw, go on' look and the crowd applauds.

UPI publisher Chung Kwak now takes the stand.

KWAK
True Father, and True Mother are sure the champions of peace...the King and the Queen of Peace, and the King and Queen of the second and third Israel!

People move into position for the crowning ceremony, as wedding-ish music takes over. Someone puts a royal robe on Moon and his wife.

ANNOUNCER
The highlight of the occasion was the Crown of Peace Ceremony...

Someone is talking the group through the event:

GUY AT THE DIRKSEN
The fruits of their labor...Muhammad, the Buddha and all the saints have proclaimed that True Parents are now receiving the mantle. Religious leaders will present the mantle of anointed....

ANNOUNCER (over him)
...which was held in an atmosphere of reconciliation, love and respect. God's painful heart was eased. And hope for humanity elevated. Indeed, it was a moment engendering great optimism for the future.

People are bowing and bringing Mr. and Mrs. Moon beweled crowns on velvet cushions.

GUY
...Religious leaders of the world. The honorable Roscoe Bartlett representing the United States...

ANNOUNCER
An announcement to God was read aloud. Commendations from present and former heads of state were presented...(lists Third World countries) ... and Congressman Dennis Hastert, the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Moon Theme swells up.

ANNOUNCER
With delegates from the world's nations...regal robes and crowns were offered to Dr. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon by prominent Protestant and Catholic religious leaders and Congressmen of the United and States followed in procession by Islam, Joo-dism ...and the world's religions. This was greeted by thunderous applause.

Moon has taken the stage. He speaks fiercely in subtitled Korean, gripping the podium:

MOON
I am God's ambassador, sent to earth with his full authority. I am sent to accomplish His command to save the world's six billion people, restoring them to Heaven with the original goodness in which they were created.

The five great saints and many other leaders in the spirit world, including even Communist leaders such as Marx and Lenin, who committed all manner of barbarity and murders on earth, and dictators such as Hitler and Stalin, have found strength in my teachings, mended their ways and been reborn as new persons

ANNOUNCER
The declaration of God's fatherland and the era of the peace kingdom, the realiziation of God-centered families, and true peace. A flood of emotion filled Rev. Moon's heart as he proclaimed the fundamental, concrete, eternal plan for peace. Tears came to his eyes. He had invested 33 years of his life in America and had rose from the position of servant of servants to become the King of Peace.

Like the Roman Empire, 2,000 years ago, America, a Christian nation, stood with the mission of realizing God's ideal. And spreading this ideal to the world. Knowing this, Reverend Moon was able to endure the racial discrimination and religious persecution he encountered, overcoming these with love and devotion.

People in the audience look touched.

ANNOUNCER
Father and Mother Moon proclaimed the dawning of a new movement called the Family Federation...

We see bejeweled crowns on velvet pillows.

ANNOUNCER
...for the ideal kingdom, through peaceful unification of heaven and earth.

Standing applause.

ANNOUNCER
Senators and Congressmen and representatives of all the families of the world joined in.

God's fatherland IS the ideal heavenly kingdom of Cosmic Peace and Unity. From the beginning of the universe and on into eternity...the kingdom of heaven has now begun...

In the 21st century, our history is going to melt away...

(This goes on for quite a while)

ANNOUNCER
Like a candle that burns down, sacrificing itself to give light to the world, the light of wisdom and hope will shine from the headquarters of world governance -- the "Peace United Nations" -- into all realms of life. This light will radiate beyond the high barrier separating nations and nations and will illuminate the road to peace, the path to fullfillment of humanity's hopes and dreams...

Now is the time for global governance centered on God. Rev. and Mrs. Moon, together with world leaders, WILL take the lead in creating a world without boundaries. Filled with true and lasting love.
