The wisdom of Jeff "Bulldog" Gannon. Re post.
http://www.jeffgannon.com/archives/columns/index.html

Find the errors in writing in this paragraph.

<The antiwar playbook hasn’t been updated since the 1960s and what worked then to turn a nation against the struggle to stop the spread of Communist tyranny isn’t going to be successful in 2005. Cable television, talk radio and the Internet has destroyed the Old Media’s ability to significantly influence public opinion. Already, there have been counter-demonstrations that support the United States’ efforts in the global war on terror and other mothers who have lost sons are able to come forward to say that their sacrifice is for a noble cause.>

I guess the 3 day "Journalism School," he went to skipped over the
"how to" part in writing.

2. He has S-V agreement problems.
'Gannon' also fails to use simple declamatory sentences with the active voice when appropriate. (Already there have been...)

Finally, the 'struggle..tyranny' passage is far more value laden and obtuse than the simple and far clearer phrase 'the Vietnam War.'

3. I am pretty sure that the comma after already was used right.
After that rest is just a mish mash of ideas and phrases.

In English 110 @ Ohio University, I learned that having more then one idea per paragraph was a grammar no no. A paragraph should have an opening sentence
to tell the reader what the paragraph is about. Followed by "the body" of the
paragraph which reinforces the opening sentence and then a closing sentence
which should lead into the next paragraph.

But I guess when you reading material is bad gay porno, your writing might
suffer as well.

4. I was going the extra mile
and giving him credit for the conceit that the rapidity of counter protests was re-enforcing his first statement. But the prose was so turgid and circumlocutious that I had to reach for it.

Cable television, talk radio and the Internet has destroyed the Old Media’s ability to significantly influence public opinion.

I am pretty sure it is incomplete.

The "Old Media's," ability to significantly influence public opinion has been hurt by
new comers such as; cable television, talk radio and the internet.

and I suck @ writing too.

6. hmm
New paradigms in communications have eclipsed "old media's" control over public opinion.

Of course, that's above the 5th grade reading level advocated by much of the MSM.
