Astounding Chris Matthews shows on now: presidential coverups.
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 11:52 AM by Gabi Hayes
Astounding because of the subject matter, and what I bet it WON'T contain.

So far they've wasted the first ten minutes on watergate....what a surprise; Woodward is a panelist

next, a tease on Clinton's COVERUP of Monica.....oooohhhh, scarrrry, nasty stuff. Matthews posits that his initial coverup of that treasonous BJ may have saved his presidency from destruction!!!!

I'm SERious....that's how he left the tease. so, they'll waste another ten minutes on that totally totally bogus BS.

Think that'll leave them any time for, oh, say, coverups of the current administration? Like, perhaps, the Plame outing?

What do you care to wager?

What a breath of fresh air it was to have him away from Nerfball this week {at least when David Gregory was there)

4. course not....Mitchell, Woodward, Klein, and E. Bumiller
Mitchell and Bumiller are proving to be totally fatuous, living in some sort of dreamworld.

I wonder if they're PO'd that Clinton never came on to them. They actually believe that if Clinton had, uh, come clean immediately that he'd have been impeached....uh, well, he WAS!

Bumiller even said she thought he'd have been convicted!!!!!

what planet do these morans live on?

2. Mrs. Greenspan is braying about the fact that he would have quit
if he'd told the truth about Monica; that a firestorm would have developed, causing his ouster.

Joe Klein, for once, is grounded in reality, calling this a beltway story, one that the REST of the country couldn't have cared less about, citing the polls, which showed his popularity hovering around sixty percent

Idiot Bumiller agrees w/Mitchell, saying that she thought he would have been impeached

just shows the total tone deafness of these socalled political savants

Next: more on.....Clinton!

what a surprise. NOTHING on Bush's coverups

5. Now, they're speculating on the oh so important question of whether
WJC lied to Hillary about the Monica affair

really great show, Chris.

I'm stunned that they're doing this, and completely ignoring what's going on even as we speak.

Not

7. Yep, all about Clinton!!
I turned it off, old news, old and tired 'blame Clinton for everything' agenda! Laughable, really, except that more soldiers and Iraqis died today, Chris, based on some really big and current cover-ups!! I know, we don't mention that ~ not sexy enough. Unless you add Jimmy/Jeff, Gannon/Guckert, I suppose.

Thank god again, for the Gore-invented internets!! And I hope they're watching their ratings falling like a rock.

They really are nostalgic for those old Clinton days, aren't they?

6. Excuse Me, But Are We In 1998?
I'm looking at my calendar, and I see that today is August 21, 2006. Am I wrong? Because I'd love for this to be 1998 again.

11. That was my question also
when I saw all those pundits salivating over Monica again!! Had to wait a minute to see if they were going to get back to today's news or if there was a connection, somehow. Didn't look like it, so I turned it off. This is Sunday Morning fare on the MSM!! No wonder they are irrelevant ~

8. Gabi, I share your sentiment.
If I could be shocked anymore, I'd say I was shocked to see them talking about a passed, old sex scandal which has no implication on people's lives was the focus. While at the present time a president has blatantly lied to get us into a war, killing and maiming hundred of thousands (Iraqis and Americans) gets NO mention. Wow.

10. not ONE word about the current admin during the entire show
Matthews closed with an idiotic paean to Teddy Roosevelt, praising him for keeping his promise not to run for re-election in 1908, then sticking to it.

Klein brought him back to reality by reminding him that he DID run in 1912, bringing back the whole parsing story (for which they, of course, earlier chastised Clinton). Tweey was NOT pleased that one of these dweebs actually knew enough elementary US history to ruin his little nugget of bogus fatua.

I can't believe I torture myself this way

Is there a twelve step program for TV news habituation?

...and he is afraid to come out with the truth since the freepers will have nothing to do with him if he does, and he will no longer be employed. He will no longer be able to "tweet" his conservative bullshit any more.

14. And what coverup by a WH led to 9-11? BCCI coverup by Bush1.
But, will corporate media ever DARE TELL THAT TRUTH?

MRS. Greenspan doesn't want the world to know it was her husband who talked Clinton into extending the Bush1 coverup, and to not allow Kerry access to the documents he wanted revealed to the American public, just how FILTHY DIRTY AND TREASONOUS the Bush family and their friends can be when there is power, money and war involved.

15. NBC is notorious with me - they are constantly trying to twist
anything under the sun to contaminate the character of Clinton. I challenge a political scientist student to observe and document and try to determine who gives the orders for these 'trashings'. The character assassination goes on more freely at the NBCs than possibly even FOX or CNN. Observe for yourself. The job is often given to the women. All written by someone. Who are all the people involved in the war on Clinton - the person who gave the script to the long haired women and who was the boss who give the producer the job and who was the boss who gave the boss the orders - Who - right up the corporate ladder. Ummmmm - do you think it might be GE!

18. seen this? hard to top
In 1992, shortly after being named moderator of Meet The Press, Tim Russert was having lunch with a broadcast executive. The mealtime conversation was about the pros and cons of working for General Electric’s NBC subsidiary. Russert expounded on how being employed by GE had brought him to the realization that things functioned better when Republicans were in charge.

“You know, Tim, you used to be such a rabid Democrat when you worked for Pat Moynihan,” said the executive. “But now that you’ve gotten a glimpse of who’s handing out the money in this business, you’ve become quite the Jaycee. Were you wrong about everything you used to believe so strongly?”

“I still believe,” Russert said, leaning across the table. “I believe in everything I ever did. But I also know that I never would have become moderator on Meet The Press if my employers were uncomfortable with me. And, given the amount of money at stake, millions of dollars, I don’t blame them. This is business.”

The executive agreed. “But are you concerned about losing yourself? You know, selling out?”

Russert pounded the table. “Integrity is for paupers!”

http://www.makethemaccountable.com/podvin/media/020109_Russert.htm

if you have a problem with hypotension, make sure you read the entire link; it'll make your blood BOIL... I know a lot about what a scumcake Russert is, but there's plenty of detail here

pretty much epitomized the total and complete whoredom of the media, wouldn't you say?

30. Not one tiny mention of the current Rove/Plame leak 'coverup'
What a waste of time this show was rehashing Watergate and Clinton's Monica scandal. Not one mention of current investigation into White House illegal activity and the fact that Bush and Rove et al denied involvement and lied all along with Bush saying he wanted to get to the bottom of it and that he would fire anyone involved.

32. zackly....that's why I was so astounded, even at the start of the show.
I put this up in the first few minutes, then guessed that they would NOT bring up the myriad Bush depredations against the truth

I was, of course, more accurate in my assessment than most of these socalled journalists are in theirs.

not so surprising, seeing as I'm living in the REAL world, unlike those richfux, cocooned courtesans of the powers that be.

how to they LIVE with themselves

at least the women are lucky...when they shave, they don't have to look in the mirror

I'd LOVE to ask Joe Klein if that's why he's sportin

and thanks for bringing this thread back....it's almost perfectly indicative of the degree of fascist/media complicity we've seen since Reagan took over
