Hey Time Magizine, who said that bin laden wasn't person of the year? |
|
look what he accomplished
1. He united the world against us 2. Polarized our country 3. Helped us pass an unconstitutial act called the Patriot Act 4. Was one of the "so-called" reasons why we went into Iraq, even though Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 5. Essentially caused our MSM not to report the news anymore for fear that they would be labelled unpatriotic 6. And caused your magazine not to select him as person of the year because you were afraid of the backlash

4. the mediawhore is 'person of da years' |
|
the mediawhore, step right up time mag, is easily the most effective agency in the world; they have warped the future for as far as eye can see...they have made revolution necessary to human survival, and they have exposed the psychopathy of rightwing corporate controller mentality

5. No Democrat would support such a REVOLTING idea! |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 12:31 PM by tmorelli415
They didn't select him because it would be very DISTATEFUL and totally DISRESPECTFUL to those who died on 9/11 and their families. not to mention it would have DISGUSTED every single Democrat alive. Besides, OBL didn't do anything extraordinary - it was the Republicans and Bush who screwed up and did all of those things you mentioned.
Liberals and progressives find the idea of OBL as MoTY even more REVOLTING than they do Bush's National Guard records.
This sounds like something a Republican would do - celebrate a criminal like the Watergate cabal and Ollie North. And of course, the Bush family is hand-holding cozy close with the Bin Ladens.
Try harder, girls! harder! harder! You're panty lines are showing through your red skirts.

7. then why did they select hitler? |
|
person of the year never had anything to do with how good or bad an individual was, it was the impact they created
and like it or not, bin laden changed this world, and NOT necessarily for the good
choosing rudy was the coward's way out

6. Thanks to Bush, Osama will be eligible for many years to come |
|
All the reasons you list are going to be just as valid in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, thanks to the fact Bush never caught him and his attacks continue with even greater success.

1. Osama managed to unite the world in sympathy with us; it was Bush who squandered that goodwill and united the world against us.
2. Osama brought us together in a united cause; it was Bush who cynically used the September 11 events to pass a divisive agenda.
3. See point number 2.
4. Since Iraq had nothing to do with September 11, Osama had nothing to do with Iraq; it was Bush who, with carefully chosen equivocation, planted the idea that they Saddam was complicit with the September 11 attacks.
5. The MSM had stopped reporting the news long before September 11, choosing instead to give Americans a steady diet of OJ, Monica or other stories better suited to the National Enquirer than Time magazine. The MSM itself gets the blame for this.
6. The person of the year award is supposed to go to that news maker who, for better or worse, has most influenced events of the previous year. Time's choices have been ridiculously safe ones.
My own choices since 2001:
2001 -- Osama bin Laden 2002 -- George W. Bush 2003 -- George W. Bush 2004 -- Karl Rove
Call me a pessimist, but all four years are awarded to individuals who influenced events for the worse.
Hopefully, for 2005 we can give the award to Cindy Sheehan or Patrick Fitzgerald. That would be a sign that things are getting better.
