Is Newt Gingrich going to run for president? |
|
I saw something this morning that he was going to be in Iowa? What he hell would he be doing in Iowa? After his appearance with Hillary, it appeared he was trying to soften his image a little and look a little more moderate to the voters? Would he have a chance at winning the GOP nomination? Could he beat Frist or Allen? A lot of Repubs remember him fondly from the GOP taking over the House in 1994.

But I don't think he has enough appeal to actually get the nomination. The Republicans are leaning towards Rudy Guiliani or John McCain.

7. not the fire-breathi' activists - they are both pro-coice... |
|
kind of hard to believe they could get thru the caucuses and primaries without doin' some serious back-pedaling and ass kissin of to the fundies...don't really see that happening, especially from McCain

16. McCain isn't pro-choice |
|
he was, though, against the idiotic anti-gay marriage amendment Bush "NEEDED" to push through, because, you know, gays getting married needed to be addressed in the constitution as opposed to, say, a constitutional right to healthcare.

I think he'd like to, but he'll be one of those who will be out before the first caucus. I just don't think he has any support. Every election cycle there are those candidates who are in the race but never get over 2 % in any poll. That will be Newt.

9. You think Republicans really care about Newt's sex life? |
|
They vote Lock-step and have no morals what-so-ever. Newt is a hero to the right and they will vote for him no matter what. Being hypocrites does not seem to bother them one whit.

people hanging out together. Maybe it is going to be a McCain - Biden ticket against a Hillary - Newt ticket. I mean at this point, its all sort of mix and match.

8. That would be sublime! |
|
Gingrich is trying to enhance his political "attributes" to seem likeable these days. The desire to be president makes people like the Newtster forget all about their negative attributes which in many cases outweigh any positive contibutions.
 Newt would be political entertainment!

11. Look at his last book--it's a huge pander to the religious rightwing |
|
If you remember Newt, he never gave a shit about any of the religious stuff. As a twice divorced adulterer, he couldn't, but fact is his issues weren't the religious right issues.
But his newest book has got the entire, "this country was built on the ten commandments and they should be on public property", "they kicked God of school" and "most americans are christians, why can't they open meetings with prayer" and "the real victims of discriminatino are" chapterS.
He's looking to be a player, and not just on Cable.

Republicans could care less about what their war mongers do. For instance, like not serving their country and shipping their kids off to fight illegal wars. We should sit recruiting tables up at republican functions and sign their kids up on the spot so that they can go fight for oil or force our way of life on them.
