2. Because they have it split 4 ways....
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 02:38 PM by thecrow
Cindy's efforts being positive only has a 25% chance (if all votes were evened out) but Cindy's positive vote if now at 39% so
THIS REALLY NEEDS HELP!
Do it! er.. DU it!! :)

Ps.. click back on your browser and , ummm... watch the numbers rise...

4250 Cindy is right

1087 1631 3746 = 6464 Cindy is wrong

See, the 4 way split is really a shitty way to do a poll.
Did you try voting more than once?
I'll bet the freepers did.

11. Two other threads on this poll already
It's rigged, three negative choices & only one positve. Anyone know the political leanings of this station? Time for a little protest & boycott methinks.

14. yeah, I noticed that right after I posted it. WRAL was Jesse Helms
station back in the 1960s when he did racist commentary, I THINK. (I could be mistaken - It might have been WTVD.)

18. From Wikipedia: Jesse Helms did his racist tirades on WRAL
back in the 1960s.

He also wrote and presented daily editorials on WRAL-TV and the Tobacco Radio Network. His editorials were printed regularly in more than 200 newspapers throughout the United States. They were broadcast by more than 70 radio stations in North Carolina.

During his broadcasts Mr. Helms routinely editorialized on topics such as the "Communist infiltration of the civil rights movement."

For 12 years he railed against “Negro hoodlums,” “sex perverts,” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights “agitators,” and denounced welfare recipients, saying in one broadcast, “A lot of human beings have been born bums.” Apparently, the recordings of these early Helms tirades on WRAL-TV have disappeared and only the transcripts remain for historical review.

22. Actually, into the early '70s
That was a very large part of the impetus to his Senate seat in '72.

Channel 5 was our main station when I grew up in pre-cable Fayetteville, along with one in Durham (WTVD) and one in Wilmington (Ch 6, IIRC), so that was the nightly news we used to watch. I vividly remember watching his editorials and thinking "who is this asshat!? (well, the 8yo equivalent to "asshat", anyway)

Unfortunately, NCer's allowed him to go on to become a very powerful asshat.

Nice to see a Lefty from your neck of the woods! My former (late) SO was from Wagram - 'most everybody I've known from down that way has been pretty conservative.

25. Well, the reasons I'm still around here:
1) Father was stationed at Fort Bragg in late 70s
2) Rest of family still around here
3) Job (I teach college)

It's sad what happened to her son, but her methods of going about this are wrong.....1107...10%

She has already met with Bush shortly after her son died, so there is no reason to again....1645...14%

21. Another NC freeped poll

Freepers have been after a poll being done by the Chapel Hill News. I watched it go this a.m. from 129 votes 80% in favor of Bush meeting with Cindy, to 700 votes 84% Bush should not meet with Cindy, in a few minutes. If anyone doubts the freepers can change votes in voting machines, they shouldn't after seeing that. The site had clearly been hacked.

Please help with the vote that now stands: 5055 votes at

33% yes, meet with Cindy
35% no,
33% don't know
