BAGHDAD, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Following are security incidents reported in Iraq on Sunday, Aug. 21, as of 1730 GMT.

U.S. and Iraqi forces are battling a Sunni Arab insurgency against the Shi'ite and Kurdish-led government in Baghdad.

Asterisk denotes new or updated item.

* BAGHDAD - Two people were killed and nine wounded when a booby-trapped car blew up at a police checkpoint in the north Baghdad district of Kadhamiya, police said. Hospital sources put the casualty toll at four dead and seven wounded.

* TIKRIT - A U.S. soldier from the 20th Engineer Brigade was killed at Ad Dawr, near the northern town of Tikrit, when his vehicle struck a bomb, the U.S. military said in a statement.

HIT - Hospital sources said one man died and 16 people were wounded when aircraft fire struck a wedding party late on Friday Friday in Hit, west of Baghdad. It was not possible to verify the report and the U.S. military made no immediate comment.

SAMARRA - An Iraqi family of five were killed by gunmen late on Saturday in the northern Iraqi town of Samarra, 100 km (62 miles) north of Baghdad, police said. The father of the family, Nasir Jabur, was a guard at Samarra's pharmaceuticals factory.

SEENIYA - A six-year-old child was killed by a Katyusha rocket that landed on his home in the northern Iraqi town of Seeniya, 15 km (10 miles) west of Baiji, police said.

LATIFIYA - One Iraqi civilian was killed by a roadside bomb as he travelled in his car near the volatile town of Latifiya, just south of Baghdad, police said.

TIKRIT - The U.S military said it detained eight suspected insurgents, including four suspected members of a bomb making cell, during a raid in Tikrit, 175 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad. A number of weapons and explosives were seized.

MUSAYYIB - Iraqi police arrested four wanted men and confiscated their two cars packed with explosives in the town of Musayyib, just south of Baghdad, on Saturday, police said.

BAIJI - Mohammad Nayif, a doctor, was kidnapped near his home in the northern oil refining town of Baiji, a police source said.
