Are their any Iraq War veterans here? Anyone know anyone in Iraq? |
|
Tell us what you saw in Iraq or what your friends are saying? What is your view on how things are going?
A Freeper I know said his friend came back from Iraq and said it's not nearly as bad as the Media makes it out to be (He was in the green zone which is totally protected). He told me not to listen to what the media is spoon feeding me, blah, blah, blah.
Another lady I know who supports Bush had a Son in Iraq several months ago and she said her Son said it was absolutely crazy over their.
I would like some other opinions of people who have actually been their or have heard from people who have been their.

1. I know two people in Iraq, |
|
one my wife's cousin's son and a friend of ours' son. From what I heard, nothing really all that positive. They told of some things happening that are horrible and I don't feel at liberty with telling these things without their permission. I do know if you want to help, send them items of everyday comfort. Also, get them the hell out and "let the baby walk" as I heard one marine say that served over there.

2. I was at the local Navy Clinic |
|
and saw an off duty sailor wearing a T-shirt with an anti war slogan on the back and most people just nodded and agreed.
The anti Iraq war people outnumber the pro war people about 10 to one on base and is even higher at the VA hospital.

3. I know a guy there now, who I work with, with the Marines. He's on either |
|
his second or third tour. He's a reservist. He's actually Navy but a medic, so he's with Marine units. A Bushbot.
Dude actually went around looking for Kerry voters to gloat in their face after the election. But he was not happy to get his latest orders, not happy to go, didn't want to. He even said he thought Kerry supporters should be drafted to go. I pointed out to him that he voted for this war and I didn't, and it was fitting that he should go to support it.
Needless to say we haven't kept in touch. Not a friend, although I used to be friendly with this guy up until he came out after election day gloating.
I also know two other Navy medical people who spent half a year to a year there. One was my old officemate, and the other a guy I helped train. Officemate was there during the actual offensive portion of the war, trainee was there during the beginning of the occupation.
I haven't heard any "things are great there" kind of stuff from any of these people but I haven't had big discussions about it either.
