It sounds like the new Iraq constitution will be a step back from Saddam's |
|
I was just watching ABC news and it sounds like the new constitution may take Iraq back about 500 years. Women will likely lose many of the rights they had under Saddam's rule and Fundamentalist Muslim laws will have much more influence. That is if they ever come together and agree on a final draft. They are so far apart right now the negotiations sound like they are on the verge of turning into a fist fight and could fuel the civil war.
Why the hell are we protecting a new government that is going to stand for almost everything we are against???? It's like we are protecting the Iranian Government's constitutional convention.
Thanks Bush for putting us in a lose, lose situation. What a fucking mess!

...of the Ayatollah Khomeini's regime come to mind. I said just the other day that there might come the time when the Iraqis wished for the 'good ol' days under Saddam'. Damn, that's scary.

I just can't deal with the hipocrisy of the situation. To sacrificing the lives of young men and women to defend a theocracy that wont even provide for women's rights.
but the silver lining to this cloud is that you are seeing coverage of this on TV, which means the story is getting out, and will probably get into a lot of local papers.
Should we write to our local papers?

What you said about us defending a theocracy that wont even provide for women's rights is so completely infuriating it's stunning!
If we want an exit strategy thats it! If they won't provide for womens rights then we are OUT OF THEIR!!! Unfortunately Bush would never admit that was happening because he wants to be a hero not the guy who took away womens rights in Iraq. Until we get rid of Bush we are stuck protecting an up in coming islamic theocracy. Lovely!
