Are cracks appearing in the American empire?

Interesting article from the (right-wing) Daily Telegraph. I'm sure he's right that Iraq is a tell-tale sign of the fundamental weakness of the US and that this is the beginning of the end.

But I'm also sure that there are more candidates to take over than the 2 he mentions. What about Europe? There's more of us than you, apart from my country we're not obsessed with spending fortunes on defence and stupid wars, and we don't teach our children that fairy stories are have equal weight to scientific theories.

The other thing is - how important are personalities? If Gore had been elected in 2000 would we still be looking at a prosperous world reaping the benefits of the end of the cold war, or would some crisis or other have derailed him and sent him down a similar doomed path.

We are so tired. Our "representatives" do not represent us. They grab money.

There is a huge religious tangent (so we are led to believe), represented by George W. Bush and his devil minions. That's who he represents? Gawed? I think not.

Fighting pure Evil does wear one out. Thanks for posting this.
