CBS News: Anti-War Mom Opposition Mounting
This bullshit needs to be countered.

Anti-War Mom Opposition Mounting

A Utah television station is refusing to air an anti-war ad featuring Cindy Sheehan, whose son's death in Iraq prompted a vigil outside President George W. Bush's Texas ranch.

Also, a patriotic camp with a "God Bless Our President!" banner sprung up in downtown Crawford, Texas Saturday, countering the anti-war demonstration started by Sheehan. The camp is named "Fort Qualls," in memory of Marine Lance Cpl. Louis Wayne Qualls, 20, who died in Iraq last fall.

The anti-war ad began airing on other Salt Lake City-area stations Saturday, two days before Bush was scheduled to speak in Salt Lake City to the national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

However, a national sales representative for KTVX, a local ABC affiliate, rejected the ad in an e-mail to media buyers, writing that it was an "inappropriate commercial advertisement for Salt Lake City."

"Mounting"? I have something for CBS to mount RIGHT HERE.

4. I emailed MSNBC and the AP yesterday about that crap
They had, in the headline of an article, the words "Patriotic Camp" to describe the pro-war crowd.

I let them know what bullshit it was to call this group patriotic, because its a noticeable contrast to the Sheenan story's. I don't recall seeing the word "patriot" next to her name in the media...

2. There were more anti-Cindy protesters on motorcycles...
...then there were in "Camp Crazy."

This is, to a certain degree, manufactured opposition.

8. "to a certain degree"....
From what I'm seeing, it's a full-court press to blow up limited opposition to the anti-war moms into "popular opinion" in the hopes of reversing the downward slide of support for the war.

As I keep saying, the main goal of propaganda is "Everyone loves Big Brother. You should too (or keep your opinion to yourself)."

3. A handful of greedy rich people can make the news
much quicker than a million poor. Nice to know the rich repukes can still buy their own demonstrations. Remember the fake demonstrations during the Florida recount in 2000. Sounds just like this.

5. Cindy's efforts are given scant mention in the media ....
now "with opposition mounting", that aspect of it, no matter how small, is front and center.

FUCK YOU CORPORATE MEDIA

6. Very misleading headline by CBS
The real story here is that ABC refused to air Cindy's ad.

When is someone going to be brave enough to address Cindy's accusation: Did the President lie? And if the President lied, why did he lie?

10. An amazing indicator of events...
A TV station in Utah refuses to air even a paid advertisement that reflects the thinking of a majority of citizens...and that's presented as a "positive"?

14. The counter-camp is destined to do about as well as
those counter-F9/1l documentaries sponsored by the Reeps last year. Remember "Michael Moore Hates America?" Remember "Michael and Me?"

of course you don't.

15. But not as fast as her movement is growing. Their opposition
to Cindy's movement is futile, possibly even counter-productive.

16. Comments from an observer at a Crawford pro-war rally
The last paragraph says it best.

A man dressed as a revolutionary solider approached and politely offered us water but we thanked him and declined. We listened to one speech by a middle-aged man whose main pro-war points were that Cindy Sheehan was prostituting her son's name and that Camp Casey wasn't as uncomfortable as people were saying it was. He sounded like he was reading a blog post by Michelle Malkin.

As we left, I pointed out that it didn't surprise me that the supposedly big man President was scared shitless of a sweet, middle-aged woman, as he is the very definition of a sniveling coward. But it was truly surprising to see this outpouring of anger and fear from ordinary people, most of whom have to live in the real world and therefore should be made of tougher stuff in the face of Cindy Sheehan's grief.

And we just started cracking up. It seemed so ridiculous, all these people in such a rage, arranging over-the-top counter-protests and bringing out an army of motorcyclists all to bear down on a group of floppy-hatted, middle-aged women in matching pink shirts. But the more people who turned out to protect George Bush from having to answer Cindy Sheehan's questions, the more ridiculous he looked -- it's hard to maintain the manly man cowboy image when you cower in fear behind a group of bullies who stoop to attacking the character of a bereaved mother.

One thing is for certain -- I never thought I'd see the day that a bunch of Harley-riding men in leather jackets would come out to scare a bunch of hard-working soccer moms because they were angry that the soccer moms were counter-cultural threats to authority.

18. Who do those "Harley-riding men in leather jackets " think they're kidding
Most of them are doctors and lawyers.

We have a Harley show here every year and a majority of the riders are well-to-do types who park there $40,000 SUV's 2 miles outside town so they can ride their Harley's in.

Dress-up for rich grown-ups :eyes:
