Hard core neo-con hawk re-thinking W vote
So I had to go out at noon and run an errand and get some gas. I'm at the gas station and I see a co-worker on the other side of the pump. He's the office neo-con, a big time knee-jerk Bush supporter. He actually called me a loser immediately after Kerry conceded, and I'm the director of HR. After we said hi, he says, "Boy howdy! $2.85 for a gallon of gas!" and I said, "I'll bet you're sorry you voted for W now, aren't you?" and he kind of smiled sheepishly and he said, "I admit, I may have been a bit hasty last November,"

He finished paying for gas and drove away. As he turned into the street, I noticed the place where his W bumpersticker USED to be.

2. A few extra bucks at the pump
With the shitstorm raining on our heads, he turns for the most picayune of reasons. Your officemate is a dick.

7. Yeah, no kidding
I remember when he danced a happy jig after Kerry conceded. Our company skews pretty heavily moderate to liberal, and some people were openly crying at the prospect of another four years. We had a long talk about appropriate conduct in the workplace. I don't mind disagreement, but don't make fun of people you'll have to work with once the smoke clears.

23. Guys like him have their hearts in their wallets...
Their devotion to the "cause" is extraordinarily transparent. As long as the nations problems doesn't effect him directly, he's all gung-ho, but when they start hitting him in the wallet, look out! He's a guy on a mission.

I work with several of these dopes. And one by one they all have fallen victim to the stupidity of this "admin*" and one by one they all have abandoned this same "admin*" because they now are starting to feel the pinch. They are only as patriotic as thier wallets will allow them to be. They are not a tough read.

What this gas hike has done more than anything is: divide and conquer them for us. It has stripped away all the wanna-be's and cleared the shit from their eyes, thus leaving the small percentage of tried and true assholes. That's fine, because it only shows me that they are warriors with clay feet. As soon as times get tough, they abandon all.

So I embrace all these fool hardy dolts and educate them in how this "admin*" actually works. It's then I quickly see a transformation, from "what's in it for me" to "holy shit, they are screwing this nation".

Just keep walking forward and with no backpeddling and it's amazing what can be done with the facts and a positive voice.

colossal failure*

8. The 'W'astikas are disappearing at a rapid rate around here...
In the past 2 months I have noticed a steep decline in the number of B/C and W stickers. I can go a week or two without even seeing one.

Weirder yet, the Kerry stickers are on the increase. In fact, I think some people are putting Kerry stickers on now.

Can't remember who it was right now but they deserve the credit.

It's a great term. I use it as often as possible in political discussions.

16. On Saturday I relished the opportunity to pull in front of a W sticker guy
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 01:56 PM by calipendence
at Costco when the guy in front of him pulled away while getting gas. Wanted to make sure that he got an eyeful of my "Re-elect Donna Frye" and "Rebel with Sibel Edmonds" bumper stickers, and stepped out of the car with my "Boycott China-Mart" t-shirt on too! He had to know he was in enemy territory at Costco anyway! That was fun!

20. And there must be a big surge in "Independents"
I was listening to a right wing radio show yesterday and a strange number of callers referred to themselves as "independents" when I think just 9 months ago they would have said Republican.
