The opposition is a figment of the media's imagination!

Who is behind it?
Is Rightwing Radio KLIF's Ankarlo the bubba behind Ft. Quall?

1. Not meaning to rain on your parade, but technically
"Fort Qualls" is located next to that hideously over decorated faux Alamo shop with the huge ten commandments tablets in front of it in beautiful downtown Crawford. I don't think there are many more pro-war folks there, either.

I think the counter-protest is a figment of the right wing's imagination.

2. I think you're correct
I saw a photo of "Fort Qualls" and there's all sorts of jingoism all around it (not many people though).

7. I really would like to see pictures of the "huge" crowd
of Bush supporters. I'm seriously pissed about the coverage that portrays the protest and the counter protest as being the same size, which they clearly are not.

I also think this bus trip from CA is a huge joke. So, they have to spend who knows how much money underwritten by right wing groups and media types and plan for 3 weeks in order to get what, 2-3 busloads of Bush supporters to Crawford? Compare that to the literally THOUSANDS of peace supporters getting their own way to Crawford.

13. Exactly! The mainstream media is not content to repoort news
They feel they must put their power and resources behind "creating" news. We are watching the swiftboating of Cindy in front of our very eyes. Soon all we will hear will be of this so-called opposition camp!

I am so pissed.

20. Maybe it's posted here on DU
It was a photo in front of that Yellow Rose gift shop that said "Fort Qualls" with three slogans like: Never Give Up, Never Give In, Never something or other. I think there was the ubiquitous, "Freedom isn't free" sign, as well.

I know I saw the photo this morning, but I can't find it anywhere.

3. WOW! I guess the media must have rounded up a bunch of folks
just to get some pics, huh? I tried to get a feel for how many were there from the pics I saw on CNN, but they kept the shot tight so 8 or 10 people looked like a big crowd.

There was also some idiot female RW talk show host on Hardball last Thurs or Fri talking about some BIG group that was traveling from Calif. to Crawford for the weekend to protest the protesters. She was all ticked off because SHE had an interview scheduled with a major network and the network canceled it because Cindy wasn't going to be there. I didn't see any reporting on THAT! Wonder if they decided not to go???

Qualls is the last name of the soldier killed in Iraq whose father
had a change of heart about his son's cross at Arlington West. Last weekend, he went to Camp Casey, confirmed his son had a cross, and shared some tears with the peace supporters there, although he said he still supported the war. 2-3 days later he returned, demanding his son's cross be removed.

I think the "Fort" denotion is a freudian slip that speaks volumes on its own.

11. A rightwing radio guy in Crawford organized it
All the Sinclair affiliates are running a poll:

Do you support Mom's antiBush, antiwar Camp Casey or pro-Bush, pro-war Fort Qualls?

Qualls is a creation of the media to try and diffuse Cindy's momentum. It was a figment of their imagination. Anderson Cooper helped to promote the idea when he appeared live in Crawford and interviewed Qualls (whose son also died) and a shill who happened to be Dan Ankarlo the rightwing radio personality who has iorganized the counter-protests in Crawford.

Go look at the links in OP. We need to get this message out!!

12. named after a bush supporter's son
he was pissed that his name was on one of the crosses posted by the Cindy supporters.

He has now copied her idea, and opened a stand/area all his own.
