Italian Blogger exposes war pictures for sex pictures site
Italian news agency ANSA published an article on Sunday:
http://www.ansa.it/main/notizie/awnplus/mondo/news/2005-08-21_1057322.html

where it reveals that an Italian blogger found a site where US soldiers in Iraq sent macabre pictures and videos to get access to the site's porn content (one form of porn for another, I guess).

Repubblica, expands on this story on this article:
http://www.repubblica.it/2005/h/sezioni/esteri/iraq64/fotohorror/fotohorror.html

Corriere della Sera has pretty much the same story:
http://www.corriere.it/Primo_Piano/Cronache/2005/08_Agosto/21/blog.shtml

where some of the caption of the pictures are as scary as the pictures themselves ("the only good iraqi is a dead iraqi", "guess the body part").

These articles, unfortunately, don't have links to the blogger's site nor the pictures' site so I couldn't verify the story, but these sources are as reliable as they get.

1. Here's an Imperfectly Translated Paragraph
from the Primo Piano site:
To slide ' post' it seems to enter in a girone infernal: every message contains in fact raccapriccianti images, in a escalation of barbarisms and crudezza, emphasized from the messages leaves you from the frequent visitors of the situated one. Messages exalt to you, not sure inorriditi, alla.vista of those terrible instantaneous ones taken on the war theatre. Bodies are looked at carbonate to you, without head, without limbs, a face in a bowl, the rests of a kamikaze, an arm, legs, accompany you from disumani, next comments to the exultation for those scempi. To the horror of reversed limbs between the powder and witness spappolate, join ironici sottolineature as ' only iracheno the good one is the iracheno mortò or references like ' poveraccio! you imagine if the 72 vergini that they wait for it they are all of the ciccionè. They astonish, for their cynicism, even the titles them of the several one post: the pragmati to us ' some photos in exchange of accessò or ' the dead men for ingressò, but also the Barbarians quiz ' dates a name to this part of the body umanò, than prelude to the vision of a brandello of insanguinata, carbonated and spappolata meat, that it is difficult to recognize for a human ace. Between the images, in the more general section, also some photos of military hurt Americans, than same they they have sended. Of the situated one of the horrors it has given to news a blogger Italian, whose nickname it is Staib, than of it has spoken diffusely on its situated one and various portali of controinformazione

You can sort of get the idea.

3. Just like Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow...
War is pornography. This is completely disgusting. Release these pictures then if we can't see Abu Ghraib! The world has to know what is going on. Oh wait, they all know. It's just the Americans that don't get to see it.

Along a similar vein, this lends evidence to the idea that rape is violence, not sex. Same idea here.

Really macabre. Sick, sick people.

9. No wonder people come back as head cases
I just took a brief and sickening tour of the Nowthatsfuckedup.com web site and its Iraq/Afghan section. You have to have a strong stomach for this, but its worth looking at because it only reinforces how depraved war really is. It's about blown-out brains, disembowelments, unidentifiable body parts, filth, wreck and ruin everywhere.
