Snail mail response from Kay Bailey today
Basic form letter, thank you yada yada yada, worshipping his qualifications, etc.
Last paragraph:
I believe John Roberts is exactly what our country expects in quality and demeanor for a person to be elevated to the highest court in our land, and I will work with my colleagues to ensure he is confirmed as quickly as possible.

Wtf?
What our country "expects"?

Strange phraseology.
Maybe it is just me.

1. What a joke. Roberts hates women like her
and yeah...what is that "expects" bullshit?

2. Standard Republican claptrap
As odd as it might seem to any outside observers, Republicans always seem to know what "the American people" want or what "our country" expects, and even odder, that it totally agrees with whatever political point it is that they're trying to sell.

I'd be inclined to write back to Senator Tool and ask her if she really thinks "our country" is well-served by appointing someone to a lifetime position without a look at his full record. Would she, for example, hire a chief of staff or a media contact person without looking at that person's resume or without checking references?

4. They should know what Americans want - they've been forcing their
morality and values down our throats for the past 11 years.

They'll tell us what's important and right and good for America and 55% of us will smile "knowing" the repubs are looking out for them.

3. Yes, Another "I Believe"
Oddly enough...it's not 'I am certain' or 'I am convinced'.

6. Guess what, Kay, that's not good enough! Just because YOU
believe it doesn't make it so.
