7. Can't believe KUTV covered this |
|
They are Bush-whores extraordinaire.
Rocky must not be planning on running for another term, although SLC proper has a high percentage of Democrats. (I live in one of the Democratic ghettos.)

I visited SLC recently, and did not find it to be the hell-hole it's made out to be.
Utah is beautiful, not everyone is a religious zealot, and everyone was friendly.
It's especially beautiful TODAY. :)

|
And I for one am relieved the Chimp In Chief spoke at the Salt Palace and not the Delta Center.
My hero & personal idol trod the boards at the Delta Center (his jersey hangs in the rafters), and Bush would have defiled the place. :D

Funny, I thought Moab was the only liberal bastion in Utah.
I absolutely love Moab and the sorrounding area...The only problem is there is no university near there! Maybe I'll look into SLC -- at least it would be a little closer.

38. SLC/Moab/Price/Torrey/Park City |
|
Those are the most liberal parts of Utah.
Moab's really great, although a bit hot. Torrey is *incredible*, it's kinda a secret (not anymore, I guess). Price is a tiny coal-mining town. Park City is a snooty, overpriced, SUV-soaked sack.
If you move to SLC be sure to pick the Avenues or Sugarhouse to live in.

This guy is great! He is not talking like a wimp and is putting it on the line. Love the part where he addressed to VFW that those of us who do not support the political leaders do support the troops and the incredible sacrifices they have made.
He's not only attacking Bush, he is attacking the Republicans. We MUST put this ball in the RNC's court. We cannot attack Bush and expect to win anything in 2006.
This guy is great. Give him a microphone and some more airtime!

20. Amazing...Rocky Anderson, Salt Lake City...protesting!!! |
|
This is about as clear as it gets. There is a huge public discontent. This is Salt Lake, it's Republican country, it's an outraged Mayor and crowd being there to make sure someone 'spoke against Bush.'
He hit all the points, hell, he can be on our ticket as of this speech.
Rocky Anderson, a man of conviction, a Democrat to be proud of
(btw, compare Rocky to those snivelers over at DLC or to Hillary, or Bill, or LIEberman, or Bayh...they look like the Quislings they are compared to a real politician...one who cares about people.)

I am on the cel phone with my brother who is at the protest. He says there are well over 4000 people at protest. That it is a mostly young crowd with many signs and people very jazzed. They had a veteran speak who had attended Bush's speech earlier in the day.
They are now marching to the capitol building with at least 8 older Veterans for Peace leading the march and carrying a flag draped coffine. I can hear them shouting "NO MORE WAR". He says he is amazed at the cars honking and waving in support of them. His sign says "Was a republican, now a Democrat due to Bush's lies". He sees a sign that says "Mormon against Lies".
Sounds like SLC and Utah is waking up. All of my mormon family is "coverting" to the democratic party. Glory glory halleluja!

40. Just drove by the protest site |
|
They are still dispersing (at 2:30 MDT), and many people are marching to the convention center with their signs. I saw lots of thumbs-up (mine included) and lots of slack jaws of disbelief.
There were a *lot* of cops, more than I saw at any event during the winter Olympics 8-(
I saw several people standing alone on street corners, holding their signs so the drivers could see.
I wish I could have made it, but had a work commitment I couldn't get out of.
It was a dark, cloudy morning and the clouds began to clear up at about noon, after The Smirk left the city.

While you're on that site there's a poll that needs a lot of help:
How do you feel about Mayor Anderson’s anti-war statements during Bush's visit?
