Pray for Eric Rudolph
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 02:12 PM by Modem Butterfly
Eric Rudolph successfully evaded capture for years. While he hid out from the FBI, he achieved folk hero status among some white Xians. There were t-shirts and bumperstickers supporting him (the infamous "Run Eric Run" being a good example) and even a couple of country songs in his honor. The Peachtree restaurant in Peachtree, NC changed its marquee to read "Pray for Eric Rudolph".

Locals seemed to make a point of going on camera to say that while they abhorred Eric Rudolph's use of violence, they hoped he evaded capture and weren't inclined to help the police.

That's a real head-scratcher, isn't it? Here we have a man who's set off several bombs, killed at least two people outright and wounded dozens more. And yet he received the sympathies and support of some of the very same countrymen of the people he killed.

I can't help seeing a parallel between the tacit support and sympathy Iraqis are giving to their countrymen who have turned terrorist. Maybe they themselves will never pick up a gun or bury an IDE, but they won't tell the US when someone else has decided to do exactly that.

I don't understand it. In the case of the US in Iraq, terrorist sympathizers see us as an invading army bent on death and destruction. Is that how terrorist sympathizers in eastern North Carolina see us too?

Edited to add: It's worth noting that Eric had a fairly fresh haircut and was nearly clean-shaven when captured.

4. Let us pray
O Thor,

Mighty god of Thunder. We do beseech thee to take thy mighty hammer, swing it swift and true, and crush the genitals of Eric Robert Rudolph with it, over, and over, and over again.

Amen and Amen

7. I wonder what they would say...
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 02:15 PM by fudge stripe cookays
if the Peachtree Restaurant were bombed. That would be different, right?

What if the person that bombed it had also bombed an abortion clinic? Would that make it OK? Would that mean they were acting under God's orders?

Fuck, these people are loons.

9. Because the elephant flies above the flag AND the cross
Furtherance of the GOP agenda in the form of anti-abortion rhetoric or action is more patriotic, holier than mere allegiance to the country and its laws or the cross and its message of reconciliation.

15. Right. The problem, clearly, is our support for gay rights, choice,

the separation of church and state...

and the fact that we wear tie-dye.

If we would just work overtime to appeal to the kind of "values voter" who sees Mr. Rudolph as a hero, just THINK of all the elections we could win!!!

10. The rightwingnuts believe you are a terrorist only if you are a
brown skinned "towel head". If you are a racist white homophobe bigot who believes George Bush is greater than God,then it's perfectly fine to bomb the hell out of establishments you politically disagree with. Those poor ignorant asswipes.I wouldn't want to be in their shoes for all the money in the world. They disgust me to no end. :puke:
