6. Speaking of palindromes, I mentioned the word to an acquaintance last month |
|
His reply was, (no kidding), "Oh, yeah. I heard about that. It was a TV western a long time ago."
Grabbing a napkin and pen I wrote down, "madam i'm adam."
It took a few moments before I had to explain to him it read the same forward and backwards (if you left out the apostrophe).
From there, I went to a few others including:
able was I ere I saw elba.
a man a plan a canal panama.
I wrote down a few more and he was hooked. Over the past month, he's spent every non-working hour trying to compose palindromes that made sense.
I don't know if he'll ever snap out of it. Maybe I've ruined his life, but at least he's exercising his brain. Whatever he comes up with probably won't change the world, but he's sure as hell having fun.

9. A palindrome was a TV Western? |
|
maybe he meant Jack Palantine (was that the guys name? the one that went on to do Ripley's believe it or not?)
recently i was lunching with a friend and he said - "i don't like classical - but I do like Puccini. Do you think he tours? I'd like to hear him live sometime."
(seriously)

Richard Boone in the title role.
I've seen reruns and it really was a good show.
(On edit: I don't think Puccini is touring these days.)

7. And that's supposed to be insulting? |

I'm not feeling the outrage from that one. It's just stupid.
