DU Proposal: "Recommended Podcasts"
There are so many great podcasts, and so many more crappy ones. We should have a section for recommended podcasts with brief descriptions and reviews.

Agree?

4. I'm an early adaptor
I've always loved that kind of thing. I hesitate to use the word "geek" but I do tend to jump into radio-related things like podcasting.

ThisIsHell

ThisIsHell RSS Feed

ThisIsHell is one of the best interview programs I've heard in some time. Broadcast by WNUR in Evanston, IL and hosted by Chuck Mertz (no relation to Ethel). It's four hours of some of the best progressive radio. Broadcast at 9:00 AM EDT Saturdays. There's an archive of past programs.

Highly recommended.

7. Link?
I like Auntie Beeb, or at least much of it. At least they've been a real news organization.

The last Brit documentary I saw was a Channel 4 production named "What We Still Don't Know" with Astronomer Royal Martin Rees. Superb stuff.

Do you have a link or a title for the BBC documentary of which you wrote?

8. Late Nite Live
From Australian Broadcasting Corp. It's a daily show that covers the world -- and the US -- with a depth that is rare.

It takes some getting used to because the host is very low key, and has an Australian sense of dry cynicism. But it is perhaps the most intelligent talk show anywhere regarding world events. And very progressive -- although not in the screaming sense.

He regularly has onh guests like Robert Fiske and writers for The Nation. He also covers subjects that you probably have never heard of, but are vital....For instance he interviewed a journalist from India about the contrast of many poor Indians committing suicide because they can't afford a dowry for their children, while otehr Indians are holding extravagent weddings.

Its available as a daily podcast, individual download or streaming.
