Just how crazy/evil is Pat Robertson?
Horrifying as what he said about Chavez is, he's done this sort of thing before, advocating both assassinations of foreign leaders and mass murder (anyone remember him saying the State Department should be blown up with a nuclear device? if anyone ever belonged in Gitmo, it's Pat...).

Anyway, some choice quotes from one of the most crazy/evil imitation Christians ever can be found at

2. Very, both evil and crazy. Remember he talks to God and God
answers him. I am sure he feels that God wants Chavez assassinated.

But if there were to be a bolt of lightning striking Robertson right now, I would change my belief system.

Would it be OK with Pat if I prayed for him to get hit by lightning? My gut tells me it would be OK with God, so why not?

7. Poor me..
I live five miles down the road from this idiot. Unfortunately, my husband is doing his Masters at Regent University (part of Pat's empire). I must admit the campus is beautiful and the staff are very friendly and helpful. When I saw the campus for the first time, I turned and said to my hubby: "Isn't it amazing what fake religion will buy you."

They are just lining up to show how stupid they can be. I am kind of concerned about the lack of backbone from the left........shit still trying to find a message. Well, visit this site and you will have plenty, might get some backbone while you are at it. Oh, don't get scared, some of you Demos are voting like Republicans lately. You all should be ashamed but taking liberal votes and voting Republican. Patty Murray of Washington is one of them. How can they misrepresent themselves to get votes? :kick: :crazy:

12. Seriously
He is the harlot riding on the back of the beast as prophesied by Daniel the profit. Check it out for yourself.

The vision Daniel saw was of a harlot riding on the back of a beast and he did not know what it meant so he asked the angle that was with him and the angel told him that the harlot represented religion.
And has he not sold himself for money and fame?

I thought he was Daniel the prophet. It's the murderous radical cleric Pat Robertson who's the profit(eer).

13. Great link
I have bookmarks to similar sites. But all the quotes are kind of dated. Recently Jon Stewart has been playing a clip of Robertson praying for more vacancies on the Supreme Court, which is pretty sick and evil.

But as soon as I settle on 'evil' I have to swing back to 'crazy'. Here's my all-time favorite Robertson quote:

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."

14. He's always been over the top
but now he feels more embolden to spout his crap because he has a friend in the WH.

I have notices that these RW loonies are much more in the public eye these days. They feel empowered by Dubya and the scary thing is they are. Any denunciations of this kind of crap is cursory at best.

Who would Jesus assassinate, indeed. Look in the mirror, Pat. I thnk Jesus drove idiots like you out of his temple.

15. Sociopathic asshole
No soul to lose. Walking empty hole of human being. Abuses religion to get attention and cash. I wish there was a special island for him and all those like him, so they could preach to each other--just as a social experiment. They'd probably mutate and grow horns.

16. Did he live in a car in NYC to convert gang leader?
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 10:18 PM by oscar111
IIRC, he as a twenty-something supposedly went to NYC's roughest area and lived in a car..

as he converted teen gang leader.

Shout it From the Rooftops

is supposedly the book he wrote about that.

in light of his behavior now, i doubt it's truthfulness.

anyone hear any controversy about such authenticity? Or lack of it?

PS pretty sure he said he parked the car on the West Side of Manhattan, a gang area, on a snowy day. Gangster had some spanish name..Paco?.. and supposedly the gangster slept in an alleyway.

PS did you know pat's dad was a rich federal senator for many years? I have also read that while in the military, Pat was heavy into booze and card games ..IIRC, that is.. memory a bit fuzzy on the booze and cards detail.

For sure, he has gone over the edge in the last ten years, saying far, far RW things. Reminds me of bush Jr.... always smiling, acting plesant yet doing/saying horrid things.
======================
Wonder if there were also such odd combinations of Nazi ideas and a plesant false front, in the german Nazi leaders?
======================
It might be a distinct psychological pathology type which needs to be given a psych label and studied.

"false front" is the closest i can come to describing that sort of personality. Criminal personality at the core, but with a false front created to make society think the person is normal, or even friendlier than normal.

The BTK Kansas serial killer must have had a false front --- he was a scout leader and also a church president {which denomination?}

--- Anyone know a more scientific term for the Robertson/bush type?

21. I'd never heard about that claim of Robertson's before, but
I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a fabrication. He's been caught lying about his background before (the web page at http://atheism.about.com/library/FAQs/rr/blfaq_rr_robert_views.htm has some examples).

<<Anyone know a more scientific term for the Robertson/bush type?>>

Both seem to suffer from narcissistic personality disorder (see http://www.halcyon.com/jmashmun/npd/dsm-iv.html#npd). This possibility was mentioned in one of the topics about Bush's speech yesterday (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=4423835). NPD is characterized by "a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy."

24. Did he really write or talk about this?
What you describe is "The Cross and the Switchblade" by Rev David Wilkerson - made into a movie starring Pat Boone in 1963.

Does Pat Robertson think he's Pat Boone?

26. Very. My favorite quote from Robertson & riposte from Ellen Goodman
I saved it to my files exactly 13 years ago this October as "Know Thy Enemy" -- because we do need to know this man is our enemy, and we need to see him coming.
Hekate

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands,kill their children, practice witchcraft,
destroy capitalism and become lesbians." (Pat Robertson, The Christian Coalition, August 1992 fund-raising letter)

When Ellen Goodman wrote about it in her column, she dryly noted that women would do all these things, "Presumably on the same day."
(Ellen Goodman, Columnist, Boston Globe, October 20, 1992)
